I'm no expert on Escorts or classic rallying, but seems bonkers on both counts. So altered it wins no points on originality, and why pay that money for a car that would only be competitive in low status classic rallying series?
A show car that can't win concourse due to non-originality (there is some leeway) and many modifications (there is no leeway there I believe) and you would want to enter it into competitions?? Barking
I sold my RS2000, bought in 1991 for £2,100 spent loads on it and sold 2 years ago for £12,000 as unfinished project (wasn't far off complete and loads of spares) I think the stock market would have done better in reality but it hurt having to let it go
Shame as I really wanted a MK2 RS again, would even sell my garage ornament. But just cannot justify the price tag for an old escort.
Well you did better than me,i sold to a friend at that time as he did most of the restoration work for me at £5500 in 98 or 99
Think I win this one, sold mine that was a lovely duck egg blue one (sadly with a sunroof) around that time for £1000 to a trader.
It wasn't my intention to make money,it's just that the floor area was rotten,so it had to be replaced at that time & one thing leads to anotherr for a full restoration project.
