1200 DVT Rear Wheel Hub Removed

  1. You need some decent circlip pliers to remove it, and yes it keeps the axle in, put everything in order as it comes off as there is a seal behind it, when you put the clip back on tap it to make sure it’s fully home otherwise as others have found out it goes loose.

  2. While we're discussing the rear hub on the DVT Mutley has anyone got a remedy for tarnished castle nuts? Mine aren't as shiney anymore and have dulled.....
Is there anything that will bring back the shine? TIA.

  3. I got a brass wire wheel from the bay of fleas and cleaned mine up, as well as the heads of the caliper bolts and then clear lacquered them.

  5. That's all a bit surprising that so much shit can get in, is that from riding in the wet or using a jet wash?
I was warned of using a jet wash years ago, they can force shit in where it's not needed.

  6. Never used a jet wash on this bike. 15,000 miles of riding in all weathers is bound to cause a quantity of dirt and water to get inside, unless you do something to keep it out. As I have now done.

  7. Hi all. I’m doing the same job on my Multistrada now and am struggling to find the seal. Please does anyone happen to know the part number from Ducati? From what I can see they want to sell the entire hub. I have bearings on order from a reliable supplier, but the seal can’t be sourced. Tia. Neil

  8. Which model Multistrada? Assuming that you mean the seal on the sprocket size...

The hub is the same on a smattering I looked at (2013, 2015 and 2018) part #75620131A. The seal is shown, as far as I saw, only on the 1260, item 23, part #93010102A. Called a dust cover, petty sure it is a seal though, had mine apart a week ago.

  9. 2016 1200 dvt. I’ll look that up. Many thanks for your help.

  10. Pretty sure that the part number I quoted will be what you need. Your dealer should be able to confirm.

  11. If you need a part number for any Ducati model of the past 20 years or so, try the website of DUCATI OMAHA. They have a helpful set of parts catalogues of most models and years.
You'll stand a better chance of finding the part you need if you can quote the right number.
