  1. Im not sure its like the movies where they can pin a knee cap at 25yds while running flat out

  2. dependant on the immediate threat posed to others

  3. In the US, it used to be illegal for police to fire their weapons with the intention of wounding a target. The only use of weapons authorised and permissible was lethal use, when the situation called for it. There was no middle ground. Not sure whether that is the case today.

Oh wait - did I start talking about how it is in the USA again? Have I learned nothing?

I would like to know whether intentional wounding with a firearm is authorised for armed police in this country. Anyone?

  4. Anyone else just see the size of the house this murdering scumbag lives in on the BBC news? Lets just say, the garages (yes, plural) are big enough for my family to live in! All paid for by you and me no doubt. Unbelievable. ........

  5. We were discussing this over dinner. Another guy was being interviewed related to the Boston bombing by several law enforcement agents. Seems while in custody the guy pulls a knife, lunges at an agent and is filled with lead.

Have to think if this was the states, there would have been no need for the NHS

  6. I'd like to think the cops are good enough to hit whatever they're aiming at, head, chest, whatever. This wasn't a long range shootout. If they can't, I don't think they should be 'popping caps' with Joe public hanging around.

  7. all police officers are armed here in northern Ireland, they have saved lives as a result and even off duty have been able to intervene at incidents. so here in the uk we have an armed police force and a fairly stable society which I believe is better protected as a result of them being armed.

  8. in the vid, the most unreal thing to me was the woman with the shopping trolly just going about her ways... noone was screaming, just standing by while there the murderer just walked around like at a dumb barfight... looks outerwordly to me... :( here we're just counting the days till it happens overhere... strength to you all... it's becoming hard just to have a simple good time...

  9. RIP Drummer Lee Rigby - 2nd battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

Once a Fusilier always a Fusilier!

  10. Yes that was very odd. Almost like the passers by were in complete denial of what was happening around them.

  11. There is no such thing as shooting to wound. You shoot to stop the threat, and aim at the centre of mass. If you can hit a moving target in the arm or leg even at short range then you are a better shot than me, and I used to shoot to Marksman std in my military days. As for pistol, having done a lot of pistol work it's a wildly inaccurate weapon unless you are very skilled. Shooting on a range is one thing, but moving or taking cover, or from a car that's stopping is another thing.

  12. hard to argue with this... Bill Cosby "I'm 83 and Tired"
I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for when I was doing my National Service, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; Muslims burning schools for girls; Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.
I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and Madrasa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia , New Zealand , UK, America and Canada , while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..
I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.
I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.
I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's be-deck themselves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves unemployable and claiming money from the Government.
Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 83.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter and their children. Thank God I'm on the way out and not on the way in. There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.
“I’m 83 and I'm tired. If you don't agree you are part of the problem!

  13. Statement from Bill Cosby:

If you got the BOGUS email, it’s time to hit DELETE!

There’s an email floating around — entitled "I’m 76 and tired" — purportedly sent by me. I did not write the email, I did not send the email, I’m not 76, and I don’t subscribe to the ugly views expressed in the email. We are coming up to an important anniversary on Sunday, which is a day when we should all come together. Whoever wrote this email is not thinking about our country, or what is important. If you get the email, it’s time to hit DELETE. [Source: BillCosby.com]

  14. So, two cretins in a car, now down an innocent soldier who serves his country with honour, and once incapacitated they then attack an unarmed mans with weapons.

Where us the honour or courage in that?

    Cowards.

Such a shame there was not a group of bystanders could have kicked the shit out I them before the police turned up.

I used to live in Woolwich but never felt intimidated by anyone there. It was a bit rough, sure but there was never much trouble.

I feel for his family and am pleased the bastards are alive so that they can spend the rest of their lives in fear. I doubt Belmarsh is a cushy place. Still they have not got far to travel.

  15. That is a seriously disturbing video which raises several questions about freedom of speech, protest and incitement to hatred.

I like to think I hold a tolerant libertarian viewpoint but that behaviour goes beyond what is reasonable and it is very temping to say that it should not be allowed in this country.

However, I shall retreat to the quote by Benjamin Franklin who said

Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.

But I am not entirely convinced.

  16. now I dont want to upset the applecart
    (aka gay marraige lol)

but isn't there a case for if your not happy. go to where you will be happy

in other words...if you dont like this place and it makes you want to burn police and hate non muslims and kill

fuck off to where will make you happy

(note - no reference to race. just behaviour before the racist branding starts)

  17. Northern Ireland ... a fairly stable society ... ? You have got to be kidding! Everybody in the world knows NI is desperately unstable, extremely violent, and always on the edge of chaos. And you have the effrontery to imply that Britain should be more like NI. I hope never to see any such thing.

  18. Not directed towards the op at all, but this phrase is the generic footnote of the typical dimwit racist tripe that is often touted following anything negative happening.

Organisations such as EDL use this sort of phrase a lot, and far from being the 'patriots' they think (and believe) they are they are traitors to our country just as much as the terrorists.

  19. the elephant in the room of course is that the nutty irishmen were catholics fighting protestants. catholics and proddies have been murdering each other since before William of Orange..the origin of the troubles was religious...
politics is used as a veil to remove any religiosity from the proceeds...using that get of jail free card again...whilst the jihadists are muslims...sunnies vs sheas, and then due to interference, vs infidels....muslims have been murdering each other since they invented their own particular sky warlord...

re arming the police....this will undoubtedly start an ever accelerating arms race..in the US, the right to bear arms 2nd amendment was written into their constitution to protect the public from the abuses of the government, in addition to protecting their property (especially as many people in the US lived/live in remote rural areas without a local cop shop down the road.

go to NYC and look at the city police..they look like paramilitaries..black boilers suits, helmets, dark glasses etc....is this what we want on the streets of britain? i think not.

Also in the US, civilian rights have been seriously restricted due to the abuse of the Constitution by the governments...the Patriot Act is against the constitution, and is effectively illegal...as we know, innocent people in the US can be detained without trial indefinately and the country is undergoing a mass construction of FEMA camps in which to imprison its citizens without trial.people simply go missing...

The normalisation of guns is a horrific ldea and is only dealing with the symptoms of society, not the root causes....it also escalates violence...one only has to look at riots..the more armed the police become, the more rioters prepare themselves for violence....when people protested against Adolf Thatchers Poll tax normal, peaceful citizens were charged with horses and beaten..watch any footage, even the mainstream stuff that was broadcast (and very distorted)...peaceful protestors (labelled as rioters) were in normal clothes, mums and dads with their kids, students and so on....the same in China...the arguement would follow that the public should be armed against the bully boys, but as i said, the normalisation of weapons is a society i dont want to live in...we have to treat the underlying causes of discontent, the growing disparity between rich and poor and deal with the genuine trouble makers whether they be criminals at large, or criminals in uniform.

the greater the disparity, the less harmonious and unfair (therefore less stable) the society...very poor societies often vote as the most content because everyone is in the same boat....however, this does not sideline the need for everyone in society to have a better standard of living and access to education and free healthcare.*

*ive added this caveat because i know that there are certain idiots whose knee jerk remarks to this statement would be something facile like, 'oh, so we should all be living in the gutter then with our kids in workhouses and begging on the streets'. You know who you are.
