PCP is like renting the bike with the option to buy after the rental, it's relatively cheap but you have to be aware that after the PCP contract end you have to either pay the 'balloon' payment to buy the bike (which may possibly be more than it's worth), trade the bike against something else (another dealer or brand is fine) if the bike is still worth more than the balloon payment, or just hand the bike back and walk away.
I just don’t want to rush and make a silly choice I have the cash ready obviously I won’t sell the bike a year later I haven’t got money to burn so probably keep the bike for 4 years I’m trying to convince my self to buy it
Take your time and research. Harry is correct with his explanation of PCP. The benefit I was alluding to is if the value of your chosen steed falls dramatically then you can simply hand it back. You are in effect insuring the future value by taking a pcp (as long as you look after the bike properly, get it serviced etc). I got the Pani R because the v4 depreciation was worrying me, the R is very special, it “fits” me better being a v twin rather than a 4 it’s a bit narrower at the front if the seat (I am a shortie) and it’s much more exclusive. Oh, and it’s just drop dead gorgeous in comparison to a v4 as well.
If you have to convince yourself to buy - then you probably should not..... Most of us have to convince ourselves not to Buy....
It's a dilemma, PCP keeps more money in your pocket now but you have a decision down the line - if you get 0% PCP it becomes a no-brainer but I don't think you will be offered that. If you want to change the bike mid term it usually costs you to get out of the deal due to depreciation following a curve and PCP a straight line. If you have cash to burn then you do know where you are by buying outright, however, after 4 years will people think the 2020MY bike is worth more and you've lost a bit more if you buy a 2019MY? If I was to buy a bike I was then going to change in a few years I'd go PCP but I have had my bike for 18 years so I'm not the best person to ask
For values just check eBay or any place they sell bikes. Take dealer price and then £1500 off that. Value of Pani R gen 2 seem to have been the same for a while. Best V2 imho Ducati have made: proper race bred tech like the 1098r and 9*6 era
Wonder how much the pcp would cost over the 4 years and I bet that would be the money you’d loose anyway it’s starting to make sense now
That's basically how they do it, they dream up a guaranteed value after 4 years (to date this has been reasonable leaving some money for headroom so you feel obliged to trade up and not lose that spare money) and they add their interest rate on (7% is about normal so it's not a cheap loan). If you have the cash it's up to you to bargain, they are keen on PCP as they get commission so saying 'how much for cash' doesn't cut it these days. If you get 0% PCP you are laughing
Suns my car up. It’s almost now, at 18m, the value it is at the 4yr value. So they will lose loads: I just pay the same. And 0% apr
Sorry to butt in, Is the1299 Pani R Final Edition and the 1299 Pani Final Edition (without the R) the same bike. It's just that advertisers vary, some mention R others don't ????
My scrambler 1100 is now worth less than the balloon payment in 1 years time So unless things change drastically that will just be going back as by then it will likely be worth 1500 less than balloon payment Dealer PX price a month ago was 600 less than the ballon in. Year against SFV4. I will wait and see if the multi V4 arrives and suits and swap for that at the end PCP. Or just run 2 for a short while

Man maths sums look something like this. purchase price 25k 5k deposit 15k future value 5k plus interest on the 20k to pay even at 10% 2k Actual value for trade on 13k so..... 12k paid and bike handed back in 3 years Ducati lose the 2k Versus 25k cash 12k lost by you Or something like that
