With the electric/chemical Fischer water heater that I am getting, then I will no longer use gas. If that is successful, I will try out their room heaters to replace my off-peak storage heaters. As my current heaters use night-time off-peak power, then I pay much more for daytime power. Since I am at home during the day, rather than going out to work, this is madness. The Fischer room heaters only use a touch of electricity to start the chemical process and so I will dump cheap rate electricity and just go for normal, day-rate power and just pay the one normal rate. If all of this Fischer stuff is doing what they promise, then I will pay nothing for gas and much less for electricity. The next step in my going green campaign would be to go solar. I have a good south-facing roof with nothing in the way East, South, or West. So on a good day, I should generate more than I use. Anyone else got solar panels? What do they think of them?
@PerryL Just a few words of caution. When we moved a few years ago one of the questions the building society we used for our mortgage asked was about solar panels on the roof. I queried why they needed to know and was told that the weight of the panels was a serious issue and could have structural implications on any given property. They were reluctant to lend against properties with solar panels on the roof. We used the Yorkshire Building Society , this may only apply to them and their policy may have changed but it is worth looking into before you proceed as it may make your house harder to sell at some point in the future.
I'll be dead when this house is sold, but good point. Who do I check with? I haven't got a mortgage on this gaf and never did.
If you get a structural engineer to do a report you will be covered, ask the Solar panel installers for their guarantee
They have a spaniel which goes out twice a day for 5 min walk around to the park and he barks and barks until they take him
Same answer Kidding, I like dogs and pigeons - but seagulls...... another reason I don't live near the sea
I’ll see your “Immigrant travelling seagulls“ and raise you “Immigrant travelling badass seagulls that eat rats and rabbits” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/n...gull-swallows-huge-rat-stunned-onlookers.html
Silenced air rifle would be much better. Note to anyone reading this - Please please please don’t take that seriously! Seagulls are a protected species in the U.K. and in any event firing across a road and over someone else’s land in a residential area would be a serious offence.
