Earlier in the week.... MyHermes sent a £4.30 extra invoice on two keypads returned to LG Electronics. I originally paid circa £7 for £200 insurance, signed for and postage... they weigh 187g each. The invoice was Description Quantity Price Amount Underpayment for parcel xxxxxxx 1 £1.30 £1.30 Admin Fee 1 £3.00 £3.00 Subtotal £4.30 Total £4.30 GBP They said the parcel weighed 1.2Kg. Regarding parcel number: XXXXX During one of our regular audits the above item was found to weigh more than was specified on the myHermes website. Please note that the audit was conducted using EC approved fit for trade scales that are government regulated to ensure accuracy. Weight paid for: 1.0 kg Actual parcel weight: 1.200 kg Our audits find that most parcels are correctly specified and only a small minority are underpaid. The equipment we use to measure parcels is very accurate so errors are rare, and we often find that unexpected differences are because of our size limits being misinterpreted or the parcel’s packaging, increasing the measurements. My point was that Myhermes automatically issue fines with no appeal process. A computer decides that an infraction has occurred. Luckily I was able to provide evidence that An error occurred.
