What does 2k get you?

  1. Thinking about a second bike so I can take the wife out for a spin. She was quite annoyed when I got the SPS because it had no place for her to go and I think it might be good to have something I feel like I can just drag out and put away with gay abandon rain or shine.

So £2 and a curly whirly, what does that get you? I was thinking a Supermoto or simliar, could also pick up a mint Kwak 750 or maybe a bady blade VRF400?

Just banding ideas around at the mo

  2. Depends what you want to do with it. You get get some quality 90s superbikes for under 2k. If you hunt around you get get a nice Zx7R for under £1500. If you want to take a pillion, ZZR1100 would be a good shout

  3. Good shout on the ZX7R. I want something that is still fun so I wont feel like I want to do myself in every time I ride it and something the missus will be happy on. Doesn't have to be quick since i just pootle around on the road anyway. When it's me and the missus it's just a fun day out normally.

  4. What about an early 900 Monster? Cheap to run, strong engine, great looks, good for pillion, wont depreciate either.

  5. I'm thinking about getting a second bike closer to the end of the year and two most likely candidates are Monster 900 or Honda VFR400. If I had £2k to spend I would go for M900, as I'm looking to spend max £1500 I may need to look for a cheaper alternative.

  6. my mate just sold a pretty clean zx7 for £1500, then bought an 03 R1 which he kept for a few weeks and sold for a snip over £2k..theres loads of jap superbikes out there for very little money...particularly as matt said from the 90's.

  7. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but maybe an ST would be a good option? Can get one for close to 1500 than 2k, so plenty left for fuel and the like.

  8. i tell you what ARE very cheap second hand, and thats the Suzuki bandits..same mate as above has just bought a decent one (no MOT), but it was only £600!!!

  9. ZX7R probably the best value - I recently bought a 2003 R1 - the Silver and Mat Black one with the LED rear strip lights with 16K miles and full years MOT and 12 months TAX, Akraprovic Can with recent tyres and service too for £2350

  10. Bit different tho...supermoto to viffer 400 to zx7....Bandit a good call I reckon, nearly bought one instead of my DR

  11. How about a nice 900ssie ? I`m biased as have had a couple but they are lovely to own and ride. Never had any (well not many) pillion complaints either.

  12. my wife just brought a 53 plate 800 monster for less than 2k, so we can go two up in comfort as she also owns a sv650 ( up for sale) and my streetfighter project ( slingshot ) will only be a single seater :)

  13. No no no you're all wrong. TL 1000 S is only choice. Let's you keep the big V-twin riding style, good for passenger so my wife says and all round generally awesome. Oooh, sorry, am i on the wrong forum here? LOL. Seriously though, well worth a look.

  14. my mate has the '97 first balls out n utta menatal wheelie machine since new. the latter ones were calmed down a little.
his goes like stink. I had a tlr and there was no difference in speed / power.
TLR also about 2k now and more race reppy.
    both typical suzuki reliability

  15. It might even get you a nice 750SS with loads of spares and stuff....

  16. and a life of pain lol

  17. Seeing as you are on a Ducati forum I will only talk Ducati.
I had a 600 Monster then a S4 Monster. I wish I could have had the looks of the 600 with the Power of the S4
You can! Get a 900 Monster.
Talking Jap I had a ZZR1100 it was a very comfy fast bike. It handled but get a bit spirited and everything was scraping

  18. SV1000S - great looking (IMO), great sounding with some pipes, good enough handling and easy to ride in any manor + plenty of v-twin grunt.
Can't tell I've got one can ya??!

  19. Why should that be? There's f-all wrong with my bike.......in fact some Ducati people have even commented that it looks like showroom condition....

......careful what you say...........that's libellous (sort of)
