  1. you used to be able to set up searches to have ebay alerts sent out when ever something you were looking for was listed, useful if you are looking for some rare or obsolete part ebay have now disabled this functionality probably to make you troll thru endless ebay shops looking for bits hoping you will spend more ££££

  2. Just tried it, and the saved search option still works for me

  3. Yep I still have my search, although I have deleted allot of them myself

  4. ive pretty much stopped using it. i never leave feedback, in the vein hope that if enough people follow suit they will revise their stupid policies...im owed about 40 feedbacks but i dont give a bugger.
crap, horrible site that is a shadow of its former self..it now has to be endured rather than enjoyed..if i do see something of interest i contact the seller directly and buy it through their website...auctions are virtually a thing of the past and nearly everything is located in hong kong or america....total crock.
theres a gaping hole for an entrepreneur to start a site the same as ebay once was...sadly i dont have the expertise.

  5. There are many, but you've never heard of them, nor has anyone else.

  6. its not the place it used to be ! too many people on there trying to make a living out of it and not just selling stuff they dont want anymore ........ i ve had a few bad experiences laterly , with dishonest sellers either refusing to sell stuff that didn't fetch the price they wanted .to the latest one who made out they were out of stock because they had cocked up on the price ...but had over 20 units for sale at a different price .And have since upped the price from the £23 i won it at and the £53 the other 20 items were priced at to £80 now !!!!!..Ebay refused to do anything about it even thought they spouted on about contracts between us and the seller !!!!....... i think its about time someone else set up a decent site to go against ebay so they buck thier ideas up
    Rate over :)

  7. totally agree
if it the seller wont do a deal (private or business) outside of ebay I dont bother.
its just too expensive to sell and i use it generally as an argos catalogue to find what I want

  8. Because they're not in bed with Google, you'll never hear of them either
Thing that irritates me is that Gumtree is an Ebay affiliate,it's like the whole bloody web is dominated by a few big players now
I wish we could turn the clock back a bit, make it a bit more anarchic....

  9. Agreed, it's gone too far. Google do have a unique position though, they mapped the internet. Before then it was all lists of IP addresses and the occasional guessed domain name. I still have my notebook from the period, it was hellish.

I think it's fair to say that Google have now been paid well for their efforts.

  10. In NZ we have "Trademe", nobody uses E-Bay at all, it's starting to fill up with businesses but is still quite good.
    www.trademe.co.nz

  11. I sell lots of stuff but tiny odds and sods as I am clearing out my house ...
I often let it mount up in paypal for a rainy day or emergency or bike parts.
In 2 weeks I have sold two items I think instead of 20 a week....
Why because of the new postage rates :( .
What cost someone I know a few weeks back £3 to post cost them £8.90 today.
Who's going to pay £2 for something them £5.60 post!!!

    Also Im sick of echeques!
    I wrote no echeques.
They took down my listings as breach of payment.
    You have to offer it.
Basically it means people can by things and despite you specifying you want payment in 3 days you get an echeque that takes what over a week to clear ....
So people can buy things when they have no money to pay you.
Yet ebay now allow you to open a non payment case in 2 days?

And how is it you flog something it goes for nowt yet you buy something and it goes for epic amount?

  12. Have a look at using collect plus instead of Royal Mail, can drop off at your local shop, the tracking is much cheaper, and they deliver parcels on a Saturday at no extra.

  13. the trouble is Google are now controlling the internet and pretty much have a monopoly on it..take into account things like google earth, and the fact that theyre on a mission to photocopy every single book in every library in the world (without paying for the priviledge) is very worrying indeed,

  14. when ive used ebay i put my mobile number on there for 'genuine enquiries', i then sell away from ebay. cheap items i dont bother...i simply cant be arsed to use ebay...i look forward to its demise.

  15. Amazes me how google have got away with it
