If you couldn’t see me, you could probably have located me by the smell. I was lucky my mum didn’t actually take a kitchen scrubbing brush to me when we got home Andy
I was one of un-ticketed camped out on Desolation Row up on the Downs until we took the fences down the police and organisers couldn't do nothing about it there would have been a riot. Skinny dipping in the sea, lets just say it was the time i became very sexually aware . Hendrix did not come over very good, hassle with equipment and roadies i believe, he died 3 weeks after RIP Jimi. The Doors were outstanding, along with the Who. Cohen, Baez, Chicago, Free, ELP, and the Moodies and many more.
Brilliant PB. I would loved to have seen The Doors, plus Jimi of course. I forgot ELP were there. The golden age of music in my eyes, I was born too late.
Sounds like you got the music in you bud, rock on. We were lucky we had them on the Island 68,69, and of course 70 which i attended all three. Paul Rogers and Free shone as far as i'm concerned but a lot of it was happening through the most spectacular psychedelic trips.
same as you bud, mind you October is normally a good month for holidaying, that little stretch of water makes the difference you know.........
Damn, really regret selling my house in Little Atherfield, right in the middle of the track, just North of Military Road. I used to fly my paraglider up and down those cliffs.
Lovely spot there Paul, did you or do know Steve ( Wibble) who lived there with his Mum must be about you age, Tanker driver rode off roaders and hogs ?
I don't think so. We shared the house with others and never actually lived there. There was a mad inventor next door who used to chase our kids out of his garden though.
mate, he was splendid, he shacked up with the Beatles in a farmhouse in Bembridge, well i know John and George were there, the jamming must have been over the moon.
was going to say i have been listening Bob for the last few days, the one collection i would like have but its a bit on the pricey side for me is Vol 15 bootleg series " Travellin Thru " some of it has Bob and Johnny Cash banging it out, i heard them doing " I walk the line " on radio 5 early doors some weeks ago strange but cool.
Was that held on the south of the Island then, Atherfield Camp or Brighstone Camp not my cup of tea but neighbour Alistair Horseshit use to take his Russian outfit there and make a nob of himself, it then moved to the speedway circuit at Ryde and then it morphed into the " Over the Edge Rally " i think i'm right in saying.
