Still think this is the best forum, technical help and offers of other help is brilliant. most of the banter seems to be in speakers corner and the lounge, which is good. Opinions will always differ on bikes but that’s the way it is. I tend not to comment on bikes I don’t like and keep it to myself that I like the looks of the ie. Would be good to know what ‘banning’ points you’ve earned though, perhaps encourage someone to think more before they type if they knew they were close to getting banned.
This is no place for sensible people Alan, not saying you are sensible as I've seen some of your other posts.
And here lies the problem as far as I can work out. The ‘rules’ seem to be down to personal interpretation. We have to remember there are some sensitive poppets in our midst. Quite how anyone can get a bit bent out of shape over a nuke or two is beyond me. But hey ho
I believe a more transparent, understandable and most importantly, evenly applied system of moderation would benefit the Ducati Forum as a whole. Seemingly arbitrary policing of the forum will definitely lead to arbitrary and erratic behaviour from forum members. I believe we regularly see evidence of that sort of thing. Still, the forum is what it is, we work with what we've got.
Knowing what has earned a ‘banning’ point would definitely help, if nuking a member earns that then maybe if you strongly disagree with them, but are close to a ban, you’d either let it go or just give a dislike or disagree instead.
Thank you This is certainly the busiest Forum. I think it offers plenty of good help when you ask for it. As for the rest... If you are not researching a new purchase (Bike or parts) or how to fix/repair something what else brings you here? I own a Monster, I read more of those posts than ones about the Diavel, or other models. Not that I never do, but that is my preference. So unless you just need ANY Ducati fix for your addiction, sometimes I think people come back often for the general banter about general stuff. And Pics, everyone loves good pics.
Perhaps make the Nuke rating genuinely available to all, instead of just a trusted cadre - without punishment? Or remove the Nuke entirely? Either would be equitable. Or simply maintain the existing two-tier system and force people to learn their place in the hierarchy. You know, in accordance with good old Leftist values.
I agree on the concistency or more the inconsistency. If a person can disagree with an admin statement using the allowed site emojis as a rating and gets a 30 day ban but then a person can be called a wanker and that wanker statement is then endorsed by that same admin with an agree and nothing happens, then yes there are inconsistencies that need to be addressed as the admin role requires impartiality and consistency On the points , a simple clarification of either making them available to the member so they know their position or a clarification of , this cannot be done technically but you can ask and would be told?
