  1. Just joined the forum and saying Hi to one and all. Had a 996 a couple of years ago but just bought a 1997 ST2 with under 2.5k miles on the clock!! (all old MOT's to prove mileage), having a couple of problems so I thought I would join up and see what the experts say.

  6. Welcome :):upyeah:

  7. I know onyerbike well! Problems with the ST2 are a fuel gauge (LCD) that shows empty all the time and a side stand that flips up if I so much as sneeze waking past - I have strength issues in my legs (long story) and I need the stand to stay down when I get off the beast. A company in Oxford say they can alter the stand but it's quite expensive.

  8. Welcome to the Forum :upyeah:
Fuel sender is stuck in the tank hence the false reading. Either pull the fuel pump assembly out of the tank and free it up or live with it just refuel every 150 miles (that’s what I do).

Im sure there’s a cheap fix for the side stand involving a £10 part off eBay, works to cure the ‘suicide‘ stands 748/916 from that era but I don’t know if it will work on the ST2 but don’t see why it shouldn’t. Iirc @Birdie pointed it out in the past and may still have a link to it. :upyeah:

  9. Welcome and enjoy

  10. Welcome dude, as Paul said above there should be a cheap fix for the suicide stand, mine is 2002 which has a safety cut out instead (not without it's own issues} maybe get a sidestand off a later model from a breaker

  11. Welcome to the forum

  12. Think I've found the ebay part - seller offers a full refund if it doesn't fit so no concerns there - side stand bolts were loose so maybe someone's had a go before? Just the fuel warning light issue now - any recommendations for a good mechanic in Bucks - I used to do all my own spanner work but health issues are now a major factor and prevent me doing many things nowadays.

  14. See you've only been on here for 5 minutes and your problem is fixed,:upyeah:...welcome:motorcycleduc:

  15. Check all stand bolts, there have been reports of them coming loose :upyeah:

  16. Geoff at Baines Racing in Silverstone is excellent for all things Ducati.
If budget is a concern and it’s just nuts bolts and belts, Nigel at Mototune in Chesham is good. BTW, I use him for all tyres, he usually matches online prices or close enough.

  17. Mostly, yes, just the lack of lead in my pencil, my unhealthy interest in Sheep and my psycopathic tendancies to work on.....
