Quoted my own post to save time, unfortunately re: wasp’s nest, I’m already onto Plan B as it’s a fucking whopper. To give you an idea of scale, that’s a car water radiator it’s on top of.
Delivered fabrics Interestingly designed by a very well known radio DJ and TV personality who likes cars, he also made a huge donation to buy enough to make a few hundred thousand scrubs!! Enroute was a drop into Pro Twins where Rob sorted my skyhook out beautifully, and the best tip of all was to take 3psi out it the tyres. So much better it’s like a new bike in new tyres feeling.
Found this at the bottom of my tool box - I think it was originally mine (to try and get Japanese engine casing bolts out in the 80's) then ended up in my Dad's workshop then back to me when he died. Need to find some stubborn screws to try it out on
tool! ^ - similar sorted me out many many times. As I got older it would take me a while to work out fully left or fully right setting to undo as arrow was ambiguous.
gave it a spray, got carried away and used the whole can (3 wasp's nest capability my arse). I could heard the drone volume rise while I sprayed. Had a sneaky look later and managed to put two sugar water traps up (Plan "C") - next visit i will try and rig up the insectocutor but needs an extension - they hate the flourescent tube when turned on, that's the only way I discovered the nest - really lucky as was about 10 feet away at one point without knowing. Never seen a nest that big in my life, this is around 6 times the size of the one at Mum's.
Thanks Jez, it's well sealed off from below quarters luckily but would be good to remove if possible.
Rode around Coniston Water as part of my "Please Pass running in" trip today. Nine hours of two stroke buzzing at 50mph. Great fun and only 230 more miles to go!
Leave the nest in situ, I recall reading that should other wasps take a liking even an abandoned nest will make them move on. Fact checked and found to be invalid.
Picked up my 635d from the Huddersfield Indy BMW service guy today after a 73k service, expecting a bill of £400-£500 - cost was £215, so that was good. He told me my nearside rear tyre was knacked (a run-flat), so that wasn't so good - he advised changing the horrible run-flats for normal tyres and put a battery powered 12v compressor with a couple of cans of sealant in the boot. He said when a run-flat deflates he often finds the rim can get damaged, and said he would not have them on his car because they affect the ride so badly. So I checked out the on-line tyre prices and tonight ordered two Michelin Pilot 4 sports from ATS for £328 (on offer) They're getting fitted on saturday.
^ I didn't risk getting too close despite "protection" but could see at least 100 dead around nest but judging by the amount attacking the flourescent tube after my attempt i would say it's not over.. Looking at estimates of nest population, this has got to be toward the 6,000 figure.
So round 2, me versus the ST2 fairing and I've retired, hurt, with bleeding knuckles and a more foul temper. When the fairings on you cannot get the indicaters in but if you put the fairing on with the indicaters in situ, the wires pull out. Not being a great help is the perspiration on my hands and running down my forehead - I'm virtually naked and curtains are twitching around me so expecting a visit from the po-po any minute - maybe they will hold the fairing for me while I put the indicators back on? I am constantly reminded about how difficult my task would be if the bike was from the land of the rising sun - lift seat, connect wires, put seat back on - no sleepless nights or resorting to falling over water to unwind. Still there's always round 3 this afternoon and the suicidal side stand is no more along with a nicely charged battery. Speaking of batteries - sold a ride on mower this Saturday that, according to my records, was last used in Sep 2017.Told the new owner that it would need a new battery but when he came to collect, I was showing him where the key goes and how to set the choke - turned the key and the thing started - that's amazing to my mind - nearly 3 years and still holding charge!!!
