What do category D bikes say to you.. Don’t touch with a barge pole? Not an issue if it’s repaired properly? OK if sold with an appropriate discount price tag? your thoughts ... X
Got a Cat D bike. It had ridiculously minimal damage and was otherwise mint. Got it for a bargain as well so, what’s not to like if you can see what the damage is?
Basically if you want to buy a cat D to use and enjoy- fill yer boots. There’s some amazingly deals to be had on both cars and bikes. Just don’t expect decent residuals. Knock at least a third off book price
Ran my cat d 848 for two or three years sold it for more than I paid for it and it was spot on with a full 70mm system on it
Its like like everything else, if you buy it at the right price, its great. If you're planning to keep it so much the better as you won't have to stomach selling it for way less than others get for non cat D. I'd be extra vigilant on my pre purchase checks, but if it were the bike I wanted at the right price, it would be in my garage in two shakes of a lambs tail (no idea where that expression originated but my old dad used to say it).
I understand what your saying mte but no concerns when you go to sell it? Eg always categorised as an insurance right off ? X
Very few people on an old bike do an hpi. Many sellers don’t know, or say, when selling. It makes no difference unless someone knows. Insurance won’t care (or haven’t ever heard of one being a problem or caring)
