1260 Clutch Slave Cylinder

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by spanish, Feb 22, 2019.

  1. Anyone know if the clutch slave cylinder on the 1260 is the same as the 1200's.
On my precious 1200 fitted the Oberon slave with some advantage of a slightly softer clutch.
Spoke to Oberon!and as it is not listed for the 1260, they were not able to give an opinion.

  2. Different part number and looks like a totally different part to me:

    2017 DVT 1200 - #19 - p/n:19540033B
    2018 DVT 1260 - #2 - p/n:19540082A

  3. Thanks for that. One less thing to think about.

  4. Think they finally sorted the slave issues on the 1260...have not heard of any problems......

  6. Really helpful. Will contact Conquest Carbon next week. Hopefully they are aware of the correct bolts now.

  7. Really silly questions but 1) when you take the old slave off does any oil come out of the (wet) clutch? .... and 2) does the new part just bolt straight in and then bleed or is there some things to watch out for when fitting the 1260 Ducabike replacement?

  8. No oil comes out (or it shouldn't !). Fitting is easy BUT I remember having an issue with the spacer - this was two years ago and I cant remember quite the issue. I think the instructions said remove the spacer with the OE slave unit but turned out that was wrong and you needed to leave the spacer in place - or was it the other way round!. Hopefully the instructions have been updated. In my case a phone call fixed it.

  9. Thanks ... my Ducabike replacement should arrive today so will let you know. Fitting because I fitted stubby levers on and the OE slave and stubby combination is pretty stiff. Also hoping it will alleviate the intermittent 'Where the f*** has neutral gone?!' moments........

  10. Did you keep your old slave cylinder.
If so might be worth seeing if it fits, only 3 bolts then you will know if the Oberon equivalent will fit.

  11. Your slave is on the left slide. The clutch on the right side. The clutch is operated through a push rod that goes from left to right. No oil should come out is you replace the slave. However there are two rubber o rings on the push rod. These need to be replaced (likely). So make sure you have these items available.

  12. Received and fitted the Ducabike clutch slave unit to my 2019 1260 PP today. Initial observations ...1. Dead easy to fit and 2. Massive difference to clutch lever ease of operation (much softer) and crisper clutch operated gear changes (although need to check the latter over a longer ride or two). I have Pazzo stubby levers fitted and the clutch was quite stiff with the shorter leverage but not anymore. Really pleased I made the purchase! I’m hoping it will make neutral easier to find on a consistent basis but will reserve judgement on that too until I’ve given it a good try over time.

  13. Just ordered the clutch slave cylinder from Oberon, anyone knows the torque for the bolts? Im new to Ducati so not so familiar with them yet :)

  14. I can’t speak to the Oberon unit, but a quick plug for the Ducabike slave cylinder. Very happy with mine, light pull and no issues with finding neutral or anything else.

  17. would you not have to bleed the system after installing the new slave cylinder?

  18. Do these larger diameter slave cylinders start the clutch lever engagement nearer the grip? I would assume that larger diameter piston means more lever travel needed for the same piston movement distance, but where is that extension of lever movement? I'm kind of looking for clutch engagement nearer the grip and a longer friction zone.

Also, does this change how the quickshifter works at all?

  19. I have the Ducabike one and don't notice the bite point to be any different, main plus points are that it is smoother and easier (not so heavy) to use than the OEM Slave. The quick shifter works fine with it, no issues at all.

  20. The clutch is idle during a quickshift (that’s the point), so no difference there; similarly to Veetwin, I didn’t notice any difference with engagement point or travel, just that it was a softer pull.
