https://www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/rea-splits-with-bike-devil-kawasaki-after-one-round He’s had more rides than a hooker. And I can’t remember one being successful or even a whole season!
Yes it all seems a bit odd I’ve read various things over the years where people have met him and said he’s a smashing bloke but something isn’t quite right.
Comes across as a bit ‘entitled’ to me. Could just as easily be a right laugh ands super laid back, which wouldn’t suit most teams either if they see it as ‘lazy’
I don’t know Gino but he has had podiums at world championship level always seems to be on a non competitive package
I do agree with the above post as he's had some good results / races in the past but if you choose the incorrect ride,it will be a career killer not a builder for sure.
He gets an OK ride then is out in no time. Reminds me of Buchan, who seems to also have a ‘I’m a great rider, do as I say’ approach and not really a team guy. Arrogant enough to be a world champion but not the talent.
Talent comes in all shapes & sizes on this planet and maybe sometimes individuals need nurturing more than others inlife.
To a point. You cant tell me that Bradley Smith lines up on the grid and says ‘This is it Brad, we’re winning this one!’ It’s more ‘the best you can be’ than the best IMHO. And it’s how you deal with people, the team, the ones that put the bike/car under you...I believe (paddock & press rumour) Bridewell was a bit like that too but seems to have gelled well at MR. Gino just comes across as fairly talented but not willing to stick in the hard work. Don’t know him, just an impression again from press and paddocks over the years. You don’t get to being paid to ride without some talent.
That’s true but you can bet you’re spangles Bradley thinks if he was on a better bike he could win! Not in an arrogant way but as Ad@m says you HAVE to believe in yourself!
He won’t. Unless he’s deluded. And that’s the point: very few elite sportsman are totally deluded. The best they can be is different to the best.
Last weeks 24hour race must have got him going ! https://www.bikesportnews.com/news/...e-bsb-stand-in-rider-rea-sets-the-friday-pace
