1200 Enduro Shattered

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Edward Cunliffe, Aug 20, 2020.

  1. 300 odd miles today, mostly A1 to pick up my sheepy seat cover and I'm shattered! It was pretty windy, which is never good, am I getting soft or just old (56, not ridden bikes for ten years before getting my Enduro)?

  2. Soft. I'm same age and regularly do those kind of miles. In 2 weeks I'm due to set off for approx 3.5k miles through France, Spain, Italy & Germany. Many of these days are 10 hour rides.
Keep at it and build up your stamina.

  3. Thanks Siddo, I'm sure you're right! Bon voyage.

  4. Friend think about it, in Spain we are right now with many covid outbreaks, if you are careful it is safe but the cases in some provinces rise alarmingly, check before the trip, it is advice, but you can do what you think best

  5. So, how was 150 miles on a sheep?

  6. Does it make the ride feel a bit woolly ?
    Don’t be sheepish.....
    Bleet it out...

did you get fleeced for it?

  7. No way to get bike fit other than riding your bike. Stick with it.

  8. Is it pink?

  9. I had to do 700 miles back from germany last friday to beat the quarantine. The enduro can munch the miles easily but it's a big old lump to hussle about for 11 hours.

  10. Another point how was the seat i got the comfort seat for this trip and although softer than the stock i don't remember any comfort.

  11. Apparently asymptomatic or very mild Covid19 can result in long term fatigue issues.

Lately any etemded exertion like a 5+ mile walk or a day out on the bike wipes me out with me falling asleep on the sofa around 8-9pm...

  12. You think you have this following a bout of CV19?

  13. No idea frankly, just looked it up and it is mentioned as a lasting symptom of an infection.

Have had a shit year, a lot of stress so that might be it. However, a busy day, or even part of one, has me feeling utterly knackered. This is not normal though I'm now in my late 50s so it might just be that. have just done a Siemens Multistix Urine Test (thanks @Pete1950) and all good apart from a high specific gravity. I'm guilty of never drinking enough water which I'll try and correct over the next few days before doing another test.

  14. I'm 59 too but we're all different I guess... I hope you get it sorted matey.

  15. Yes. But looks grey. :)

  16. Yeah all good. My seat had already been modified anyway but seemed numb bum was less of an issue. Plus it's slightly higher now which is good for me at 6'5" with long legs.

    And it's different I suppose.

  17. Don't feel to baaaa-d Edward; I started riding after a 16 year break and all sorts of things felt very different from what I remembered. The Enduro 1200 is a sofa compared to my old Hailwood Replica. The best approach is to remember to enjoy the journey; not over-focus on the destination; give yourself a little more time and take a few fun breaks along the way.

  18. Thanks Rick, strangely the next day I felt pretty much fine and my back, which gets a bit stiff these days, is better than it has been for a long time. Strange. But good.

  19. And that huge petrol tank doesn't help with taking rest stops!

  20. I wouldn’t be without my sheepy.
A weekend away to the Highlands from London and 1800 miles later it’s still super comfy. My knees tend to be the first things that groan rather than my backside though.

I was on my GSA which is exactly the right tool for the job. A6A238DD-D48D-4214-BDCB-A214E3F5F4E2.jpeg
