Many do in racing. But it’s a trade off: if the best tyre is heavy vs the worst light, which would you have?!
I just don't recall "weight" in any tyre comparison tests. Grip, wear, wet weather, etc. yes. But weight, no.
Because grip etc is far more important. But MCN and others have compared them over the years, mainly road tyres from the stuff I’ve read
And don't forget to experiment with different gases. A lot of weight can be saved there! Nitrogen, helium, methane.... we need to know!
