ciao amici, just got off phone call with a good friend who runs a Desmo Owners Club in Michigan, USA ... chatting about a new GPS mount he and one of his club members who is a machinist have prototyped. the photos below are of the prototype mount on his 2016 Multi 1200. the next version of the mount will have a different mounting plate, that will allow the mounting plate/GPS/smartphone to be positioned more forward or backward, and allow mounting all the major brand GPS units as well as Quad Lock mounts for smartphones. as soon as the second prototype is finished, i'll post of new photos.
Unfortunately I think you will find that it’s obscuring the speedo. In which case..... CJS Offence Code: RC86046 Offence Wording: Use a Motor Vehicle with Speedometer Obscured Contrary to regulation 36(1) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. This offence carries a fine of £50 and no penalty points. Worth checking,
Would at that angle reflect the sun? I have mine above the dash which allows me to turn it down a little avoiding glare.
not to the test pilot ... he lives in a VERY sunny local, and has not experienced any glare from the position of the GPS screen ... and, if you look, you will see that the angle of the GPS mount is fully adjustable to suit the individual pilot's riding position preferences.
John, I gave the +1 to Alan as I had my nav mounted to the bar clamp on my previous mutley, I didn't get on with it positioned there, as I'm tall I find the position above dash much better. No disrespect to you or your buddy whom obviously has fabrication skills! As with all things matey its horses for courses
Looking at picture 1 I would also assume that it could be obscuring the dash. This is not the first time that you have come on here trying to sell something and then been abrupt when people do not agree with you that it is the thing that the world has been waiting for.
If it’s not obscuring the dash then it’s fine I only concluded that it might be because the angle of the photo makes it look like it definitely does. I have mine in a similar position but as low down as possible.
Yours also looks like it will foul on the tank bag when the bars turn, but I wasn’t going to mention that!
