Flickering Oil Light

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by RickyX, Jul 19, 2020.

  1. I had one letting oil through last summer, so got a replacement from MotoRapido and no problems since. The replacement sensors that Ducati sell have now got a decent amount of thread on them too!

  2. What is the alternative oil pressure switch for my 996 as in cheaper than 34 quid for one, as i am having the same issue as @RickyX above, it just started doing it today?

  3. here is one on Amazon but if you find the equivalent part numbers or are prepared to search other sites you will get one even cheaper:-

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009PIHJ5W?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details

I can't vouch for quality between the different manufacturers, if I could find one guaranteed not to fail within a year then would pay 3 times this. And just for comparison, One unit that failed last year was of O.E.M. and the bike had done less than 3k miles.

  5. Check it's the same connector Wayne, this is definitely ok for 749/1098 but just had a nagging feeling there was a subtle difference with the connector on some earlier bikes despite identical thread.

  6. I've just found one on Ebay same part number and the connector does look similar to the 996, Fiat Stilo £3.49. But like you say there are subtle differences.

  7. Richard @RickyX has blanked one of his as per Steve R suggestion and tempted to do same on current Ugly as light has been flashing intermittently since fitting new only a week ago..

  8. The thing is oil is fine it goes out on start up as usual as in cold but in traffic especially when hot then the light flickers then stays on at idle at lights etc it stays on then goes off at normal speed;) blanking is an alternative but it's that piece of mind thing i guess.
