Yesterday i was out and about on one of the bikes down on the coastline as you do and had the misfortune of getting stuck with a rear tyre pun?ture,i think it was 21 years ago on a Harley that i had received the last pun?ture on a motorcycle),unfortunately it was a slash mark & not a hole so it couldn't be repaired so they let me store the motorcycle overnight which made a pleasant change from we can't because of the company insurance bullshit. So a huge thanks to the team at Sykes Harley Davidson at Lowerdicker who gave me a tour of the premises / warehouse etc, great to see that decent folk still exist, they also had a electric bike up for sale at £28k plus, anyway bike collected this morning at 08.45 with a new tyre on it's way tomorrow or the next.
They're fine with No issues on the paintwork, anyway it needs a complete new paint job when i finishing riding it.
Never had anything like that in 31 years riding,i just rely on lady luck.I've run out of petrol a few times over the years, also this bike stop working one day when overtaking a HGV,but was presented with a hard shoulder immediately, only to discover burning wires / fuse underneath the seat unit, stripped back the wires and made a connection & off i went again. But you're right i do need a extra pair of hands just incase in the future, just a tool kit would have helped on the day.
Stu,there is so much traffic film / crap out on the road surfaces today, there's just no point at the moment,i've many marks on the 996 nose cone as well.
Your suspension still works when it's strapped - and can rub through on a longer journey. It may help others to consider when strapping a bike on a trailer
....and quite possibly BMW's as well. I've to say i do like a motorcycle trailer with a very wide ramp for self contained loading & unloading without outside assistance.
If anyone is interested I’ve got a trailer like that for sale. It’s got a big ramp on the back, dual axle and brake. Made by Wessex with an internal dimension of fractionally over 2.4m x 1.2 so it will take full sheets of plasterboard or ply. It’s been a fantastic piece of kit but I can’t store it in London so it has to go unfortunately.
