My usual service guy Paul at PG Performance can't fit me in for an MOT, so I'm thinking of trying MotoRapido in Winchester. El Toro suggested I post here as there's a gremlin with the dealer review pages this evening, so I couldn't read all the reviews. Do any customers of MotoRapido know their attitude towards small jobs like just getting at MOT done? It seems to me that when you choose to be a customer of a workshop, you want to be able to go to them for the small things not just the big services and repairs. So I'm interested in their attitude. It turns out, checking my last service date, that I had a service a year ago. But as we're about to go into winter, I thought I might wait a few months to spread my costs out a bit: both cars and my bike are all due MOTs and servicing in September. Thanks.
Moto Rapido do not carry out MoTs, they take bikes to a nearby small dealer, Alan Lear. I'd book direct with him. Andy
Thanks Bradders, yes the Covid extension applied to MOTs due up to end of July. I was hoping I had some grace period, but no it runs out tomorrow. Have booked a service now with Paul, as it turns out service was due anyway.
I only tried them the once, I needed the fan check box ticking in my 1199 map as it had been disabled. We agreed to about £120 which I thought was crazy for what was being done - when it was completed they rang and wanted about £300 as they said it wasn't one of their maps. Eventually they honoured the original price after they realised I felt like I was being cheated. Never been back since, which is a shame as I hear good things about them so my experience may be isolated.
Your Avatar info says you're in Portsmouth so Snells in Alton are as close as MotoRapido and I've found them to be far more helpful. And they do MOTs. And that's where PG Paul used to work. If you want an independent I have used https://www.burnoutbikes.co.uk/ for MOTs and servicing but they're a bit of a hike from Pompey, being in Downton just outside Salisbury.
That’s still the name over the door, but I think it’s his son running it now. That’s where I get mine done and I’ve consistently had excellent service.
I used him when I lived in Alresford and worked closer to Winchester, but I moved out to Romsey in 1986 and haven't been back. He was very good in the Eighties. A bit like the Communards and Tears for Fears.
