Someone will only chop it to bits, do some shit welding, paint it black and green, put some fat knobbly tyres on it and ride the thing to Shoreditch.
Sadly you are probably right. While it's a piece of crap to ride it's still a good candidate for a proper restoration project as it's a very early production matching numbers bike but it needs to be cashed in to help with keeping my TZ rebuild going.
I collected my car from the workshop this morning. I said to the mechanic "Did you manage to fix the brakes ?" "No, but we made your horn louder"
The wife left a note on the fridge: "It's not working! I can't take it any more. I've gone to stay at my Mother's!" I opened the fridge, the light came on, and the beer was still cold. What the hell is she talking about?
You can never lose a homing pigeon - if your homing pigeon doesn't come back, what you've lost is a pigeon.
Been scanning eBay for a newer van and have narrowed it down to in no particular order. Merc Vito Toyota proace Ford Transit merc sprinter Vw transporter
To be honest ( work with VW’S ) the Mrs works for Toyota and they are pretty much bulletproof, just need to keep oil in them
Cleaned and polished both bikes after doing several hundred miles over the weekend Been sat out in the garden all afternoon as its scorchio here
Today i went for a ride to Snells on the 996 and on my journey out of Alton got in to a high speed hack with a guy on a speed triple and the other on a ZZR1400 for about 5 miles or so then let them get on with it, i then went to Stockbridge, stopped on the road side for a drink and a flapjack (mmmmmmmmm) on the road coming out of Stockbridge to Salisbury and a very nice yellow 748 went past going the other way, i then made my way home, it was nice and cool this morning but fucking hot on the way back, all downhill after tomorrow though apparently, roll on Guinness O'clock.
I have an Observer assessment on Wednesday and tried to reccy a route I put together from Street View. Since Google vans surveyed one of the roads on the route, Highways England have cut it in two with a brand new dual carriageway bypass ... that isn’t actually open. Bugger ! Still, was a great day for a meander through Berkshire’s highways and byways. I’ll just have to rejig things and go out again tomorrow. Silver linings and all that. Andy
I realised today that I'm at the delusional stage of my life where everyone my age looks way older than I do.....
I’m not sure on the Toyota it has a 5 year warranty but from what I read the engine is PAS not Toyota. I’ve had a VW T4 but they seem overpriced for a work van pre loved as the lifestylers like to convert them into day/camper vans which inflates the price beyond my threshold. I’ll probably stick with Mercedes.
Merc are good used to work for them, just borrowed the Toyota a few times from my Mrs place and they always seem like a good van for the money.
Agreed my Vito on 160k has been a brilliant workhorse but needs replacing as it’s getting long in the tooth. I’m really tempted by the Toyota as with a long warranty it would see me close to slowing down both my work load and the heavier lift jobs I undertake from time to time. I might try a test drive in the Toyota.
I seem to recall that on the earlier Vito’s mines a 62 face lift with the same engine as a Sprinter and different headlights.
