  1. The prevailing wind is from the South West, so any “Problems” in Brittany would be heading our way pretty sharpish. The same way as we export pollution to Scandinavia.

  2. No. Someone told me, but I have no link to any source. I haven't investigated because I couldn't care less. I can't travel and France is shut, but here, I turn on a light and it works. Where the leccy comes from and how it is generated (French Nuclear; Russian Coal; or Brit wind power; I really couldn't care less about!

  3. If I need one, I can turn on a hot tap and get sham hot water for it.

  7. The French have some cool hydro schemes in the alps, just sayin' :D
Anyhoo, anybody heard of Symbio energy as Money Saving Hexpert says they are well cheap and could save me considerable sums of wonga - but I'm dubious....

  11. They are just the billing company... nothing else.
We used them since Jan 2020, very cheap.
Basic website and not very friendly budget features, not that bothers us.
They change their prices every month or so to guarantee that they are the cheapest.
    Started off with
Standard unit rate 11.092 p per kWh
    Standing charge 19.000 p per day £69.35/pa
    Inc VAT
    Now is 10.18p and 21p/day

MSE frequently say I need to review my energy, each time my savings are negative to the tune of £300, so we are happy.

    Very inflexible, robot like staff.
But we are sticking with them as our electric bill is sizeable and we don't even have electric heating. Not sure why electric is so much here.... I go around turning off any manual lights I find on and most are full automatic LED or Fluorescent. We have perimeter street lights on all night, but I think I worked that out to £150 a year.

  12. Go on admit it you have a fishy water heater too

  13. Or just fishy water :p

  14. It feckin is! No maintenance and about 2 KWH per day of leccy. How is that not cheap?

Clearly, you have a problem with it. Dunno why and don't care. No matter how many times I tell you: it works, it is neatly and professionally installed, I've dumped gas, it will run when there is a power cut. and my running costs are very low. Oh, and a ten year guarantee.

  20. Yes, let's close it otherwise it will just descend into random sniping and bickering... And we should just keep this honourable as, after all, we are Gentlemen and Ladies. Which type we could argue but let's move on ....
