Evening all I’m looking to buy an s4r and have seen one , I can’t go look at it in person https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133456686594 just miles are 26000 would it put you off Never bought a bike online before so I’m just not sure Any thoughts advice Thanks
It looks like this more expensive one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133468810136 Thought it was a genuine model oh well back to saving up
The s4r testa is a base version on the rs. No ohlins. I wouldn't put me off as long as it's been looked after. @bradders may have an opinion on the price though..
It’s supposed to have a service history can’t decide if the one in Manchester is worth 3 grand more Or if the 996 version would be a better buy
Looks pretty clean, there are cheaper but mostly S4 with the non deep sump motor. Mileage looks ok, for a bike if that age, providing sev ie history is good.
I was thinking servicing would be easier with the 998 engine And buying remotely from a dealer should give me a bit more protection than buying private Thanks I appreciate the thoughts
I’ve bought 3 bikes unseen other than photos and online convos with the vendor, they were all private vendors as well. All deals were good, no messers, or liars. All bikes delivered to me by a courier. Maybe I’ve been lucky to date . With it being a dealer selling you should have no problems as you can always return it if not as described. As for the mileage, 26k. Sure, tis nothing. It wouldn’t put me off. I just take the view it will arrive and I’ll give it a full service anyway which may include belts/valves but deffo all fluids. At least I know what I have then and what state it’s all in. It’s a good price. It’s in Wales, just a ferry trip away.
S4R has the 996 motor 2003-06 then 998 and radial brembos 2007-08 S4 has the 916 motor S4RS is the same 998 but has ohlins and RS trim. The OP is an 08 S4R std. and looks clean etc...
I think something has gone awry with the editing as ‘recent Scotland visit’ seems to have got most of the replies for this
The Toro to the rescue..... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/recent-scottish-trip.81690/ @El Toro
Thanks that’s good to know, it can travel on the ferry unaccompanied so I don’t have to enter the plaque pit and isolate when I got back. Going to call them when I had another coffee
