Picking up my new multi on Tuesday and was wondering if anyone has noticed a difference with the low seat fitted? Being 5'8" the "shifting arse" technique sort of works, but the low seat the dealer fitted as a test didn't make much difference. It states 25 mm lower, but anyone out there had experience?
Yes. I have the new seat. I can confirm it is quite firm and lower by 25mm. It's still fairly high still but I prefer it.
I have one and it allows me to basically flat foot compared to the original Im a tall dwarf 5ft6. Usually 2 up all the time so extra security worth it.
I'm wondering if it wasn't fitted properly in the dealers when I tried it? I think I'll have to give it another go when I pick it up.
That's interesting because i tried a bike with a 'lower' seat in the dealers and i can't say i noticed any difference either.
I've recently fitted a lower seat to mine and find it makes a big difference. It doesn't feel much lower, but when I need to put my foot down in a hurry I can do so with much more confidence. I'm much happier on the bike as a result.
I had the lower seat but because it is a little wider it negated the advantage of being lower. In the end I sold it and replaced with the comfort/touring seat (which looks prettier too) and found that one the best shape.
Hmm there was confusion of which one to get when I called to choose mine. The website is not very helpful with the difference.
Agree when they ordered mine the Parts Dept came back and had to confirm it was ABS an model ?? Anyway didnt get that at all, as I had been loaned the previous models lowered seat and thats how i knew it would make a difference. The upolstery is different and there is more wiggle room in seat compared to the previous model.
The new seat is narrower than the old seat. New standard seat probably feels about the same as the old low seat. New low seat does make a diff. Had old MTS with low seat to compare.
Well, just had new bike delivered:biggrin: weather crap will have to wait until tomorrow! Going to try with standard seat and try the lower one at first service. Thanks for the views; bit confused as it seems to suit different people in different ways. Def going to try though, so really appreciate the help. Can't wait to try out my first Ducati!
Well my first journey on my first Ducati. All the hype is true. What a machine! And only 6000 revs. Wales was a pleasure to visit this evening. As for the seat, well the arse shifting technique certainly worked and didn't have any issues. Maybe my legs have grown at last!
Nice to hear someone else confirming the big grin on their first Ducati. I didnt even take a test ride, rode my Kawa 1400 to the dealership handed it over and rode home smiling all the way. Enjoy !
