For Sale Thinking Of Selling My 749 Bp Track Bike. What's It Worth?

  1. hello chums.
As the great escape goes into overdrive I. Thinking of selling my 749.
    Bad points,
Its a lil cosmetically challenged ( tank looks a bit shit) but I do have a spare tank to go with it)
Engine is blown, bottom end by the sound of it...
    Good points,
Spare engine with 10k on it and service history up to 2018, it was a runner before the bike was broken .
Mono rear subframe, track front subframe and new old stock race loom. Rear sets, near new Bridgestone rubber , ohlins steering damper, crash bungs and new Cambelts yet to be fitted...
I dont have to sell this bike but I'm just weighing up options as to sell and save a lil on freight and buy again in nz or ship it and possibly get smacked with import duty as I've not owned the bike for over 12 months.. well I have but I never put the v5 in my name so I may have problems..
    Thoughts?

  2. Gauging interest..

  3. Could you not ‘find’ a receipt with the correct date on?

  4. Exactly... as I say, I dont have to sell but it might make my life easier .. I know what it owes me but not what I could realistically expect to get for it. Id probably be better off breaking it as the subframes and damper would probably fetch over a grand alone... but I've too much on my plate and little time... any ideas as to value?

  5. That is the current thought for sure..
But from what I understand about nz customs, they can be a lil brutal.. also Im Seriously thinking of getting an r6 for track needs ! I know! I'm a traitor!!!

  6. Could you not register now and place it into storage then in say 13 months time ship it over.

  7. I'd say 13 months storage and the fact of having to get someone to ship it to me would cost more than any duty I might have to pay.
I'm just looking at options... got a price of 3k to ship 3 bikes, a fuck load of tools, spares and a small amount of clothing and personnel al effects. I dont think that obsurd, but I'm not rich..
if selling one more bike reduces that by a reasonable amount and saves me on import duty as well , it might be the smart move...

  8. Is that for a 20’ container?

  9. Could you not register it now, place it in storage and then dig it out when you return?

    Coz you know you will!
    :)

  10. No I won't! Its complicated!!

  11. What’s the likely hood that you’ll finish rebuilding this bike once back in NZ though? If you split it into parts will all of in go within say the next 5 weeks or will you be leaving behind what’s left. TBH as a buyer I’d be looking to offer a little over 2k for everything you offer given that it needs a refresh. But then I’m a tight git GLWS or shipping it.

  12. No, a 20 foot container was 4.5k.
This is for approx half a 20 footer. Also the pick up and pack all belongings from my house ( rather than me have to take to container or have container dropped at mine.)
It also includes delivery of everything bar bikes to my brothers house some 3 hours from the port. The bikes I have to collect due to some shit nz importation regulations... another option would have been to buy a container and sell it at the other end but that would then leave me to having to deal with shipping companies and red tape that is beyond me...
I dont think it a terrible price tbh...

  13. I'd be hoping for a bit more than that as it owes me twice that but that is what this thread is about, trying to gauge what I could realistically expect and make a decision...

  14. You could always convert the container into your new home once there. :)

  15. I’m no expert on the 749 but from memory they’re a little over 4 in dealers ready to ride and yours needs work at the very least an engine swap. I paid 2k for a non running 749 a couple of Months ago with a TPS fault.

  16. A mate picked up a really clean one not so long ago for 3k but he did get very lucky as I'd have thought it more worth the 4k mark.
Mine is a track bike but that probably takes away rather than adds to the value? That said, its been set up for track but only done 6 20 min sessions!
Money has been spent and would probably be best recovered by breaking it .. I really ha e no idea. I know what I'd like rock bottom price....

  17. Na, I dont like that idea. I'm a carpenter, living in a metal box would drive me mad..
    I like wood o_O

  18. List it on eBay with a reserve and a best offer as you’re time constrained or pop a figure up on here that you’d like and that be your best gauge of any genuine interest?

  19. They have timber floors line the inside with a bit of plywood and clad the outside in wood add an apex roof with wooden shingles and it’s picture perfect.

You could even open up a new market out there...tell the kiwi’s it’s on trend in that there London.

  20. here,s one i made earlier not a cheap option either o_O
