Can anyone help please recently bought a new exhaust for my monster 1200 bought a exhaust servo unit but I do not know where the servo unit is on Ducati Monster 1200 can anybody help with some diagrams don't know where the end of the servo unit plugins into and how to remove it.
I've a 2009 1100S and the servo unit was under the seat. Find the exhaust valve and follow the cable back, you'll soon find where the servo motor is. When you say do you mean the exhaust valve (and servo) eliminator or you actually bought A N Other exhaust servo with the new exhaust? ps. BTW the Monster section is not the busiest area on the forum (just FYI)
Hi just bought a servo Eliminator plug but I cannot find the end end of the servo on my bike and where it is is so I can unplug it and put the new servo plug Eliminator on
Find the exhaust valve on the original exhaust and there’ll be a cable connected to it that operates it. You can’t miss it, it’s a big lump of a thing in the collector/link pipe of the exhaust system. The photos below show mine. Follow the actuating cable back and it will lead you to the servo motor. Coming from the servo motor will be a bundle of electrical cables, possibly 3. There’ll be a connector about 15cm away from the servo motor. Disconnect that and plug your servo eliminator module into there. I’ll take some photos of mine later for you.
Hi it looks like the lead from the exhaust goes to the side of the battery box but I cannot see from there where it actually goes up so with the side of the engine without taking everything off do you know what is the easiest part to take off to make it easier for me load stripping parts off I don't need to take off Ian
It may very well be they placed the servo motor with the battery under the fuel tank on that model in which case, unfortunately it’s plastics off, fuel tank disconnected & off just to get to it . There’s another member on here who iirc has a 1200 but I’ve not seen him fir a while, I’ll try snd find him & flag him, he may know.
@Mark9 do you have a 1200? Or smI mistaken? If so, is the servo motor under the fuel tank by the battery? See above ^^
A parts or workshop manual will be a good place to track down where your exhaust-valve servo-motor connection is. Mostly available free or low cost online - try searching the forum for relavant posts....
I think that the 1200 is the same as the 821 in which case the battery is inside the front of the swinging arm. I believe that the servo motor is in the same place.
Hi thanks very much for the information managed to download some of the service manuals and took a bit of time but I managed to get the servo buddy installed but I wouldn't recommend anybody do it on your own. It's a 2 man job Thanks to all that for you help. What a great Ducati forum this is I will be recommended this to my mates
It just makes it easy when your removing the battery from the bottom of the bike. And if you have got small hands which I haven't. Ian
Its not a 2 man job its fairly simple remove the heat plate on the battery box undo the 2 bolts on rear on the bottom then it will swing down on a pivot then remove servo and plug in where the dervo was plugged in
It's not easy if you've got hands Like shovels like I have could be done by one person two of you better.
