If you are near London I'm just about two hours away so could pick up - cash or bank transfer - tank would be most welcome and get me back on road. Phil [01508531803]
How good is that - I haven't used the forum for some time and just when help is needed its there! Although I've sent a pm to Lorne250 I'm not sure there is any other way of making contact. Phil
Oh dear - just missed the tank - if there is something else out there please reply but may have to go to main dealer - looks like the part is now a 'critical' Ducati part holding. Phil
@Italian Phil here’s one I just found on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-7...591730?hash=item1ceb597132:g:cegAAOSwXxpe1B8B and a cheaper damaged one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Tan...376803?hash=item4b73626a63:g:bJEAAOSwfdheMtYf
Thanks RickyX - its the inside also that has to be good enough as will have to get it clean before its treated to save it from further attack by our fuels which are increasingly bad for the older tanks. Thank you for your efforts.
I've spoken to pro twins [Pete] and have possibly found one but not sure I will go for it - may possibly wait if another pops up in the forum. Phil
I have two 04 749R’s and neither has an issue with internal damage to the tank due to fuel...what are you doing with yours??? I bet the Protwins option will be um...pricey.
I would advise anyone to drain the tank if not using it for a few months or keep it full. Note the following which was found on a search of the issue: Acidic compounds and ions can be dissolved in water, and these substances can have corrosive effects on metallic construction materials. With the increasing content of ethanol in fuels, the conductivity and ability of fuel to absorb water increases, and the resulting fuel is becoming more corrosive.
