  2. Latest from the beeb

"A separate document circulating in government - based on NHS England modelling from 28 October - warns that the NHS would be unable to accept any more patients by Christmas, even if the Nightingale hospitals are used and non-urgent procedures cancelled.

It warns that south-west England and the Midlands will be the first to run out of capacity, potentially within a fortnight.

These latest papers come after a statement from the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) revealed that Covid is spreading much faster in England than the predicted "worst-case" scenario."

  4. The problem is that everyone is so scared of saying the wrong thing, or more importantly, the truth.

People die....it happens you know, it's not callous to say it. And if people think this thing is going away they're either idealistic, niave or simply incapable of handling the cold hard truth.

The question should be who or what can we save?

Theres millions of lives getting screwed over here, millions...cost vs benefits, that's all we should be talking about

  5. But in all seriousness

Wouldn’t it be nice to see this forum and our mutual love of bikes being a sanctuary for us all at this time and bringing people together.

not to sound like a hippy, but that old british spirit would be nice rather than letting the media turn our heads and turn us against each other like I have witnessed so frequently lately.

Whilst we may not all agree. We are all in this shit sandwich together. So may as well try and make the best of it.

  6. I just hope they make this lockdown count. And actually do something productive.

but I fear they’ll bung a load more dosh at test and trace and we’ll end up back here again.

we’ve got to break this cycle.

I genuinely don’t believe this lockdown will achieve much - again. Aren’t schools and uni’s one of the worst areas ? Yet they’re keeping those open. I mean what the actual F...

  7. Spent the last 10 minutes over text talking a friend of mine down who’s giving up on his life because he stands to loose so much from all of this. And this isn’t the first time or first person.

sick of it. Absolutely sick of it.

  13. Latest pranks and games for kids at my partners school is spitting on all and sundry, little wonder that it seems the rises are greater in secondary school aged peeps.

Only a matter of time before she get covid, my advice to her is go on the sick for 6 months with stress on full pay.

  15. As far as I'm concerned this has to be the last roll of the dice for both Sage & Boris. Neither should be able to call shots on anything further after the 2nd December and the strategy needs a complete shake up.

Sage needs replacing with an alternative group of scientists such as Carl Henegan & Company so that the country gets to choose longer term and more realistic paths. Lock downs are not and cannot be the answer, people need to get their heads around that.

And Boris should just resign frankly. He's weak, he's more scared of looking bad due to false & inaccurate death statistics than he is just telling people the hard reality many seem incapable of processing.

It's a shambles, the country is on its knees and for what? Saving lives saving the NHS?

    Be brave ffs

  16. Sage were right, their advice was a short break/ lockdown to stop the level of infections getting to this point. Though thats easy to say with the benefit of hindsight.

Doris is a fool, possibly a well intentioned one (possibly not). If you look back over his career, he has been at best mediocre, and at worst frankly appalling. Millions voted for voted for him, expecting him to change from a bumbling idiot and a pathological liar into a national leader. If Loz was around he might have said "the people get the government they deserve" and he would be more than half right...

  17. Agree with everything said about Boris, but I don't believe SAGE have been right about much throughout any of this. The sooner they stand aside along with Boris the better imo

  18. Was refreshing on the run up last night to hear scientists confirming that lockdowns are not the answer and also highlighting issue with the approach

what I find baffling is that many of us on this forum were mentioning the exact issue straight off the bat ages ago.

but alas we are not experts and I do not have professor in front of my name

  19. SAGE (and many other scientists) were/are probably correct about how to control or stop the virus.
Trouble is that’s it, all they’re advising on is how to stop the virus, doesn’t consider the side effects etc of their plan.

  20. They're just weak, sage, the government and all politicians in the UK at the moment, it's cowardly to act how they are imo
