  2. You should not underestimate the level of anger in the farming community over the sell out over food standards. Tory MPs can’t necessarily rely on the agricultural vote next time around.

  3. If you write to your MP and ask them question you are making it personal. If they ignore you write again asking why they ignore your question or concern and make it clear you will publish all their responses on social media. They all rely on social media now. It's not much but it's something everybody can do quite easily. Personal is better than a general complaint via a petition in my opinion.

  5. So with only 1 in 10 beds taken by someone 'with covid', which again could mean they're in hospital for anything, Why won't NHS England disclose the number of available beds?

Surely if you're being put out of a job, having your business ruined, you deserve accurate facts and figures?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54767118

"Ministers have issued stark warnings about the risk of the NHS becoming overwhelmed.
Hospitals are under huge pressure in a number of areas, particularly in the north west.
But what we are not being told is exactly just how full they are.
The figures presented by the government detail how many patients are in hospital with Covid - currently they take up less than one in 10 beds.
However, so far both NHS England and the Department for Health and Social Care have refused to reveal the number of available beds once you take into account patients being treated in hospital for other conditions.
We know the amount of non-Covid treatment for things such as cancer care and routine surgery is still not back to normal levels - and the requirement for social distancing and other infection control measures means capacity is reduced overall.
But it's still likely there are a significant number of available beds in many places.
Clearly it's a fast-moving picture and there will be a need to act before things spiral out of control.

But the public deserves to be given the complete picture if it's being asked to make such huge sacrifices."

  6. It's perhaps not as simple as number of beds taken. Any ward with infectious diseases means that staff have to scrub, gown up, mask up, glove up before they go in. Then they stay there for about 2-3 hours before doing the whole thing in reverse. In that time they can't go to the toilet or have a quick cup of tea. It just puts extra stress on a already overstretched service.

  7. Lifted from WiKi re the Poll Tax riots @Alan williams something you want fess up bud?

. The section of the march which stopped opposite Downing Street reportedly contained veteran anarchists and a group called "Bikers Against The Poll Tax", some of whom became aggravated by reportedly heavy-handed arrests, including one of a man in a wheelchair.

  9. From todays Sunday Times. Dildo is certainly living up to her name.

"The “world-beating” NHS Covid app, downloaded by 19 million people, has systematically failed to send alerts telling people to self-isolate after they came into contact with infected people.

Thousands were not contacted by the Test and Trace app, developed under Baroness (Dido) Harding, because it was set at the wrong sensitivity, the government has admitted.

For a month, the Department of Health and Social Care failed to use software developed to make the app work properly. Users whose “risk score” should have triggered an alert were not contacted. As a result, a government source said, “shockingly low” numbers of users had been sent warnings since the app was released on September 24."

But don't worry, they might have fixed it now...

  10. Around that time I had a t-shirt with ‘bolloxs to the poll tax’ on it.
Thatcher was due to visit the factory I worked at and I was asked to take the day off.

  11. I feel flattered. I might not be the best person. English isn't my first language. Although I don't think it matters as long as you are courteous, only state facts or mentions things that they or someone in the government have said and ask a question. Having a rant isn't going to get you anywhere that's for sure.

  12. You’re much better at putting into words than me, that’s for sure. :upyeah::)

  14. If you have only one person in a covid ward, that ward has to be effectively sealed off from the rest of the hospital and hospital staff i would assume.
And any staff working in their i presume have to self isolate. I know the nurse who cared for me a few months back spent weeks away from her kids as she worked in the covid ward.

  17. I understand the issues faced dealing with putting on / taking off PPE etc

But that shouldn't really have a bearing on why the NHS has refused to release the number of available bed figures.
