I make my own judgements based on what i can prove or from people i know i can trust. Listening to shite all over the internet will turn anyones brain to a pulp. Everyone has an opinion, very few are at the front line.
It's a red herring used to avoid dealing with the truth, Starmer isn't an idiot, he's a slime ball but an idiot he's not. People keep cranking out 'ooohh test and trace' as though it's an easy fix, that'll sort out covid.... Test and trace will only ever work IF the public comply and give accurate details. You can have the best app in the world, you can have the most dogged outbound call team ringing people up, literally top level telephone sales people used to crunching 100's of calls a day. And it won't matter if the data fed to the app is incorrect or people simply avoid the call.
So no then. But you're happy to quote 4000 deaths from Whitty and Co? But you don't know them? But we'll stick with 4000 and not actually bother with the details.... If you actually watch this, someone who is far better placed than you or I pulls apart the 4000/day projection by simply pointing out that the worse case scenario graph itself is already out because on that projection it says that on the 1st November there should be 1000 deaths, when in fact there was less than 200. That projection is wildly inaccurate, complete and utter nonsense and pointless putting it up because it's already wrong by many multiples. Yet Whitty etc put it up You only have watch about the first 2 minutes to learn why he's worth listening too. It's simply common sense analysis Prof Carl Henegan
The person in the video is Prof Carl Heneghan, the head of the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University
Same guy but the video is from today, it's post 2nd lock down announcement. It doesn't paint Whitty and Co in a good light imo because of a glaring lack of detail overlooked by them.
From an IT standpoint that’s the baseline of the issues essentially for it to work in a mystical world absolutely everyone would need a smart phone. Everyone would need to be honest. everyone would need to take their phone everywhere with them... I can go on.. and on about it. It’s got more holes than a colander To even attempt to make it work effectively. You would need to chip everyone in the country. But even then the signals can be blocked and not many would accept it. it won’t work. Ever. Which is scary as that’s what they seem to be concentrating on during this lockdown. A lockdown being driven by data that’s three weeks out of date and already been highlighted as wild stabs in the dark. Madness.
You know that, I know that, Starmer knows that Shit, deep down a lot of other people who keep bleeting on about it know that, but it's all nice and convenient to keeping saying that's the problem as opposed to 'people are going to die and there's very little that can be done for many of them ' Oh,and it makes for a good stick to beat political opponents with, even if they are talking shit when they bang on about it
Never met him and never likely to. I doubt he was at the front line back in March/April/May in the covid wards. He is probably a clever man but I have better things to do with my time that listen to another expert say his piece. We are in this situation and we have very few answers as to how to get out of it partly because all those making the decisions have an agenda. We are ultimately just a living being on this Planet which we share with lots of other living things - this time its a tiny virus which has fucked our way of life but because all the money focusses elsewhere most of the time, we have no answer for it currently. Yes we could cross our fingers and carry on as normal but the human cost would be unpalatable to most. let's not forget that if the hospitals do get over run by covid, a lot of people will die from a lot of illnesses other than covid. But the reality is our way of life is a big reason we are in the shit this time. We are not as clever or in control as we would like to think we are. It will blow over eventually and be replaced by some other problem to keep those in power in power and those who actually do the work and keep the World spinning 'in their place'. Its quite laughable how stupid those in power do really look when they cannot just throw money at a problem and hope it will go away. Money alone will not sort this one.
The point was you were accepting the 4000 deaths from one source (or do you know them personally, so trust them - fair enough if you do) but won’t accept a different opinion from equally qualified people.
I don’t think anyone actually believes the 4K thing do they as said before, I don’t think it matters what side of the fence you sit on. This lockdown will achieve sweet FA other than further cement the depression we are now in. IF it was actually FOR something .. and by that I mean it was to buy us time in order to achieve something productive.. then I’d buy it. But it’s a half hearted lockdown for a short period... to work on... test and trace which nobody thinks will work regardless. safe to say we’ll be back here again then .. Which from what I can see is now the worst financial crisis this country has basically ever seen. very sad
Perhaps it depends what you’d really like to hear as to which group of scientists you chose to believe. I must say, I wouldn’t want to be the one, even with help from advisors, making these decisions. No way I could live myself if I thought people had suffered because of my decision.
I agree mate although scientist or not.. it doesn’t take Einstein to work out that test and trace isn’t going to work atleast
4000 is an estimate based on current growth of the virus which is the only projection they can do. I don't need to keep going over another opinion. I know what i have been told by friends and relations who work at the sharp edge of NHS care. This isn't just another flu bug, in the worst cases it attacks the respiratory system and the immune system turns in on itself. Whilst age and underlying conditions can make it worse, it can and has attacked others who do not come under those two categories. It could be me, you or a close relative or friend next. It cannot be ignored.
If nothing else, why are supermarkets allowed to stay open 24/7. I know people have to buy food etc, but using local shops would make more sense, rather than people from miles around ‘meeting’ in a supermarket.
