I think it looks barrel chested and not as athletic as the 1200 or 1260. Has anyone worked out if the panniers have a lower mount?
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WITH SO LITTLE INCLINATION I TOUCHED THE TOE OF THE BOOT ON THE GROUND ??? bad position of the footpegs
Maybe he needs to be riding with the balls of his feet on the pegs. I can drag my toes too if I put the peg in the arch of my foot on my 1200s.
Having had a couple of days, I can say whilst I like it, I like it the in the same way I like the Enduro. Looks nice, rode one and enjoyed it but ultimately not a bike I can see myself buying. It’s too off road biased for me and mine doesn’t go anywhere near anything other than tarmac. My 1260PP was always going to be with me for at least another year, unless the new Multi blew me away. So I’ll see what else Ducati have up their sleeve and carry on enjoying my fantastic motorbike.
Having just sat through my speed awareness course perhaps this is the bike that will slow me down a little. Because there’s no way it’ll keep up with a 1260 PP on the road. Perhaps if I was off to Morocco though
Although I sold my MTS several years ago I've stayed a member on here and watched with interest the growing speculation about the new model. From my point of view it's firmly in the "Nope" category of motorbikes. Too costly, too heavy, too technologically advanced for technology's sake. I always thought the Triumph Explorer was an ugly old lump that looked like someone had dipped a magnet in a scrap pile but at £8k (Eight thousand pounds, say that out loud) less than the MTS it's far more tempting. The KTM was clearly designed by a committee with Ray Charles, Helen Keller and Stevie Wonder on it but it also has a certain appeal. So what do I buy next? I've been without a bike on the road for a few years now, I didn't miss it at first but I am looking for something to add to the garage. Sadly, at the moment I don't think it will have "Made in Bologna" on it.
As I see it, the answer to this is yes it does. If you look a little more closely at the photos, it looks to me like there is both an upper (just to the right of the rear light) and slightly lower forward mount(just to the left of where the trellis frame ends). Check out the lower of the "New Honda Multistrada" photos posted by Chuki above and I think you will see what I mean.
Brilliant and 100% in the same position, not that I'm in any rush to move mine on. I love everything about the KTM, bar the styling. I look at the new MT-09 and wonder who the person was that said 'yep, bang on that'! It's not that hard or expensive to make pretty bikes, same with cars. But we seem to be producing bikes that more and more look a little abstract. As for what to buy, I'll be getting the new V4 Streetfighter R. Same as the standard model but with a three quarter fairing and a slightly more spacious riding position. It's coming, only a matter of time!
I currently have a 2016 DVT PP, carbon wheels, dripping in carbon and the accessory catalog thrown at it, but, it's getting on in years and I have a new bike itch that needs scratching. I pinned my plans and hopes on the new Multi V4 being spectacular. Alas, my plans appear to have not worked out, this 'hybrid' offering is not what I envisaged and IMO and is devoid of anything that makes a bike unmistakably a Ducati (except the price). It even looks built to a budget (that hidious swingarm is still giving me chills). As is that fact I can't fit any decent sticky rubber due to the wheel sizes and the one size fits all non premium suspension, even Kawasaki's have skyhook now and it's still not very good IMO ! At this price bracket is there any good reason, besides blatent cost cutting why semi active Ohlins and Brembo Stylema calipers haven't been fitted ? They are on the Panigale V4S and StreetFighter, the new Multi will cost just as much specced up. The V4 engine, I really hope all the power isn't high up in the rev range, we will wait and see as I nearly pulled the trigger on a StreetFighter until I experienced that, all civilised and controllable then suddenly banzai !!!! Panigale owners know what I'm getting at there and it's great fun with the right tyres and suspension but I suspect riding like your hair is on fire all the time won't really suit this type of 'hybrid' bike if indeed that is the case. Sticking on the adaptive cruise control box (radar sounds far sexier though doesn't it) off a VW Golf (by the way, just wait till you drop it and you get the £500 bill for recalibration) or having to pay for a phone app subscription (Sygic) to try and bluetooth to your dash (remember this previous Multi owners) so you can have SatNav on your dash isn't exactly ground breaking or needed IMHO. and yes I know you don't have to have it just making a point. What I didn't want is a corporate jack of all trades and master of none or to 'ride all roads' , really ??. No way would I even attempt to take a big very heavy expensive lump like this off roading, I have a CRF400 for that and that's more than enough. If you intend to go off roading on your V4 then fine , let me know what it's like with 170bhp 220kg+ and knobbly tyres on wet roads , unless of course your support truck is carrying your road tyres ala Ewan and Charlie, or you can ride everywhere in the special offroad short first gear. Yes I know I'm being facetious. So, now that Ducati/VW/Audi appear to have their GS for the Waitrose adventurer set, (sorry) I'm in the market for a sporty mile munching tarmac touring beast and unless things change drastically over the next few months with the Multi (which I doubt) that will be a not stunningly pretty 2021 KTM Super Duke GT which will be a v-twin stupidly fast and comfy and very similar equipment levels having ridden the 2020 model, plus a very nice touring trip with the thousands saved over a specced up V4, COVID permitting of course. After nearly 30 years riding all sorts of Ducati's (still wish I never sold my 999R damnit), I really wanted to love the new Multistrada and had my cash ready but the only Ducati in my garage for the foreseeable future I fear will be my beloved and proper Ducati 1098R.
Im sure that Ducati will pick up "our" surprise that they haven't offered a replacement for the (perhaps I should now say) "old" 1260 model and it hasn't gone down particularly well. Im fortunate that I have a 1 year old PP and not likely to change it for around 12 months. However they will lose me as a customer if they don't launch a road only bias model. My bet is that they will. Im fortunate that I buy my bikes based on looks, performance and general feeling that you get when you walk into your garage and its sitting there; and price has little influence. However I see nothing in this new range yet that remotely interests me. Perhaps the Ewan & Charlie wannabees will be attracted away from the Fatherlands tractors , who knows. Shame really. We will see
