(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. The wheels look great! Don't suppose you have a RAL code or some other code that we can use to replicate. I'm pulling parts together for a period cafe racer build and I intend to anodise the alu rims gold, but as you say not bling bling gold!

    Cheers

Did minimum assembly work to get ugly number one running just now, like fill with oil, fit timing sensor and plug in ECU and instrument (and remember to put drain plug back in!) . The temperature has dropped away really quickly here, so I just wanted to turn the starter to confirm that at least I was close.
I swear that I didn’t even hear the start of churn and suddenly it was running and idling beautifully, I can’t tell you how happy that made me, and still can’t believe it.
I’ve enclosed a picture to show painting that I just did as an exercise, but it makes me smile to realise that I’ve effectively bolted a silk purse onto a sow’s ear. :sun:

  3. I did briefly thought about my bike today, but I was then instantly distracted by my work obligation.
Then I thought about it again when I read this thread and wrote my thoughts down here to share.
    Lockdown eh!

  4. Thanks, my garage is half block half steel sheet big fvck off roller shutter, no insulation so it does tend to sweat a bit with temp changes but the household de-humid seems to do the trick. I just tog up with me military overalls, and the good lady keeps supplied with regular mugs of tea.:cold_sweat:

  5. Hmm my good lady let’s me fend for myself, I may at some point show her your post in the hope that she gets the hint. Mind I won’t hold my breath.o_O

  6. Scudder haven't you learnt to put on the little lost boy look yet ? Easy, let her see you through the door, blowing into cupped hands and shuffling the old plates of meat works a treat mate.

  8. Surely ANY bolting of bling to a Fugly is going to be onto a sow’s ear! Nice.

  11. Just reinstalled the heat shield behind the battery box on my trackbike.
I had left it off while I was troubleshooting my electrically dead engine (was the fuel pump wiring).
I hate removing/installing that heat shield as it’s got stupid tiny self tapping screws in it and they invariably cross thread/go in on the piss and access is shit and I haven’t got a short stubby screwdriver so I use a tiny ratchet with a pozi-head on it and I can’t get sufficient pressure on it and...and...faaaark!

    Done now. And relax.

  13. Started installing some auxiliary lights on the scrambler as winter is on its way, and it's still dark out in the mornings and dark early in the afternoons.

  16. Bought this Bullit 125 for my lad on Thursday and been out teaching him my bad habits. Couldn’t resist a little blast on it myself, what fun, reminded me of my TS185 .... 1980 ?

Applied a quality polish before the light faded, now back under cover.

  20. Took bike project number 1 for it’s MOT so can proceed with getting a logbook hopefully no issues will be found.

Took bike project number 2 to be repaired as the problem is beyond my skill set.
