The righties closed themselves down and it’s notable that almost all of your brothers in arms who supposedly were libertarian lovers of free speech routinely blocked those lefties who put up a struggle against the right wing hegemony on here. Due to the use of the block function the righties already effectively had their own forum within a forum on here before their conveniently timed scraps with the mods supposedly led to the exodus. Plus, they’d largely stopped posting in SC long before then anyway, which I suspect was because Trump was becoming increasingly unhinged and BoJo was turning out to be an embarrassment. I could cheerfully throttle you sometimes but I genuinely am very glad you and others have decided to stick around to fight your corner, not just because one-sided discussions are boring and don’t teach anybody anything, but also because I respect the fact that you’re often now the sole brave soldier going over the top on his own (“rat a tat tat” ). Well Farage certainly focussed Tory minds on how to win an election. Not everyone will be having a shit sandwich. Corporations won't , they will keep shuffling money overseas to avoid tax, the rich won't for the same reasons. Dole wallers wont cos they dont get taxed. It will be PAYE who get the tax at source and if they have any disposable income left over then on purchase taxes not to mention negative interest rates. TB
I lovely lady I used to hung out with...shed some light over one of the many reasons behind the Brexit. She spent many years in office with JC Junckers. Following the 2008 recession EU was planning to introduce serious measures to stop the banks from assuming too much risk and also the big corporations to avoid taxes using the so called tax heavens...this pissed off a lot of the very rich in UK.(read investment funds and the likes) Obviously UK had a the right to veto these laws(they even done it when the bank bonus cap was introduced) but could not go publicly and say "we do not agree to close the tax loops for the big corporations". Therefore "they" had push the exit button.
