Just been reading planned changes for this class next season. Additional engine sizes to be allowed including Triumph 765 triple and Ducati 955 twin. This will be trialled for the MSVR Quattro Championship next year to try and increase the number of manufacturers competing.
Ironic, as you can't actually buy a Daytona 765, so it's a bit of a strange move, and likewise why would you not allow the MV F3 800 and just be done with it, 955cc twin, fairly standard, same for 800cc triples, really tuned 600 IL4's
There's some strange rules in bsb. Like the bike can only be 3/4 years old etc. (600 new sales are non existent) I know someone who was racing in supersport with an 07 framed r6 with the current bodywork on it and nobody EVER checked haha
Ignoring the fact that for a limited bike, they are everywhere for sale with barely any miles! they aren't a new model that's available to the public so in theory shouldn't be homologated for a supersport class, the MV and the Ducati are current non -limited models that you can go buy, hence in the spirit of the class. Unless of course Triumph are going to shock everyone by selling more Moto 2's... which I doubt as it's Euro 4
Just read there will be a Triumph Factory supported team in next years BSB SuperSport class with maybe wider support in 2022.
One ???? I’ve seen more tuned triumphs blow than I’ve had hot dinners I must stress though, that it’s tuned ones and not stockers. The supersport trumpets are about as reliable as spud from trainspotting
a guy who bought my RGV works for Rolls Royce developing jet engines (I know!) and was an Uber geek, he told me that the issue with Triples, is that the piston speed is REALLY close to theoretical maximum of something like 26M/s, with even the super sport 600 IL4’s being at maybe 23M/s, something he says makes the bigger difference than the tuning in the heads etc. I have no reason to doubt him, ridden lots of triples on the road and track, I fact between me and my mate we have had 6 of them and not had a single issue, the Gen 2 revved even harder as a stock bike and in racing I believe was really pushed. I remember in 2013 I was chatting to one of the teams who were replacing selector shafts every session because they were too weak
Not just tuned ones, but hard pished ones too. Great bikes, just need meticulous maintenance of being pushed to the limit
Had great fun on my Street 675, great bike but was planning for Euro tours so bought a VFR1200, not the best idea I’ve had but it served a purpose over in Europe.
