959 1199 Y Pipe On 1299 Cans

  1. Hi guys,
I just bought what I thought was a full system from a 1299 on ebay but on receiving the exhaust it would appear the Y pipe is from a 1199. I asked the seller if it was fitted to his 959 and he said it was fine. I don't see how this can be the case as the flange that joins to the end cans is completely different. Any advice would be great.

  2. Having checked all the serial numbers it turns out it's all 899/1199 pipework with a set of 1299 cans :mad: doesn't seem possible to have had this fitted properly.

  3. The 1299 exhaust uses a clamp to hold it onto the Y-pipe once the two are connected together, it doesn't have the bolt holes like the 899/1199 setup. The 1299 might be a different diameter as well, as I thought all its exhaust pipework was slightly bigger than the 899/1199.

I've attached a couple of screenshots from the 899 and 1299 official parts catalogue, which shows the difference in the exhausts and Y-pipes.

  4. Thanks mate, I had looked at a few pictures and this confirmed what I was thinking. What I don't understand is how he could have had this fitted to his 959. Said he got a garage to remove so is going to contact them. Don't know what that's going to prove but I'll wait on his reply.
