Charged the battery on my R1200s. Thinking about changing the front suspension A arm for one from a R1200rt as it’s about 25mm shorter and makes the bike turn a bit quicker.
Gave the Panzer (GS) a clean and more paint flaked off the front wheel So now deciding wether to get it painted or powder coated. No idea pros or cons of either.
Hi all upgrade's done so far dukabike clear clutch cover with ti bolts front carbon mudguard carbon rear hugger.New seat and cover and more. to come.
Quite a bit of play on the Hypers rear brake....assumed the pads were worn as ive not changed them since ive had the bike....pulled the pads out...about half gone so ok there....took the opportunity to clean the caliper out and swap out the mounting bolts along with the bolts that hold the two halves together for some spare Ti ones i had in my spares. Then found behind the lever theres an adjuster so adjusted the play out. Brilliant.
Over the last few days 1. made some adapter plates from 100mm x 100mm x 5mm steel fence post for the cheap Chinese engine stand that will (hopefully) take my S4 engine (next project but one) 2. made some footrest hangers out of 10mm aluminium plate for the hack ZX9R. The original footrest were always too far forward and slightly too high so it was an effort to weight the footrests when trying to get the heavy old bugger (243 kg) to turn. 3. made a clutch spring compressor tool to refit the clutch springs on an MZ TS 125. The clutch springs are retained by a 12mm dia steel collett sitting on top of the spring with a 2mm steel through pin on the 6 posts which come through the spring cups from the clutch hub.
Used the new Acme chain lube box, overall I’m fairly pleased with it but for nearly £100 delivered think I could of made my own from a box & a puppy training pad
Finished off my service / refresh on my treasured (but not really used recently) 851 SP3. Took a few weeks. Work included: Oil and filter Brake and clutch fluid change Chain clean and lube Rear linkage adjust and rear spring preload Belt change and idler/tensioner pulley upgrade Coolant change Fuel tank service - Drain petrol and replace with fuel stabiliser. New fuel filter (from Germany - early type), high pressure pipes, fuel pump (after I had put it all back in - it had stopped working - grrr). The grey stuff around the cap is old sealant I used to do a lot on this bike back in the 90's (riding and maintenance / upgrades - lot of age appropriate kit on it), and it was great re-connecting with the bike. It's stood up well over the years thankfully. New tyres in the spring and an MOT for the first time for 5 years. The belts had been on there for about 6 years or so - can still see the red markings and they didn't feel hard or look as though they would cause a problem, but changed as a precaution. Whilst not riding, I turn the engine over every 3 or 4 months until the oil light goes out and start it up 2 or 3 times a year. (Yes, I know, the garage is a tip!!)
Replaced calipers on track bike project and cleaned up existing ones for sale. Got pistons out with my Ryobi tyre inflator! Full story here https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/what-winter-project-for-expat-jack.81021/page-7#post-1756942
shifted all the wifes crap out of my shed into her new shed at the weekend there to give me room for my CRF and DR which have been sitting idle in the lean-to for waaaay to long. i've had the CRF for nearly a year and always found it a lil hard to start from cold. well, with a litle comfort, light and a wee heater by my side. i found a button marked "choke". it starts so much easier now. odd....
