Typical production line. Quickest way to fit and bugger the poor sod who has to repair/replace. All it needed was for the clips to be turned 90 degrees. The hose was well welded on as well to be honest hence just cut the bastard off.
Todays fascinating episode sees the EBay £10 Talon lightweight rear sprocket fitted plus R&G Offset Cotton Reels that came as part of my £100 bumper box of spares. Shout out to R&G for sending me FOC, next day DPD, some new Gel Badges to replace the cracked ones that were fitted. So, hopefully, no more scratches on the swing arm plus, gearing should liven the bike up even more (-1 on front, +2 on rear ).

15 minutes in the garage this morning on my latest budget mod that will make a disproportionate improvement for the bike on track. Yesterday I met with @cookster who said "this needs a QA throttle mate". My response was, "Yup, agree. How much would one cost, about £115?" "Yes". "Funny that as I had one arrive in the post this morning and it only cost me a tenner!" But Al was right. How come only a tenner? The throttle off the 1050 Speed Triple has the same tube and grip as the Daytona. But, crucially, it has a larger cam, effectively giving a stealth QA throttle. I can now go to max throttle in one hit without adjusting my grip. Took a bit of fettling with the cable adjusters to get enough free play to stop the throttle being sticky on max lock but there was enough in the adjusters to achieve this. @Advikaz & @Expat Jack I'm so cumbersome that when i try and blip the throttle i blip it to 16k revs!!!! Powerrrrrrrr! I either need to get used to it or make it slightly less aggressive.
Had a fun morning swapping out the front calipers. then sorting out the ones on the bike for resale. Pretty straightforwards but I do have a zip tie on the brake lever now just to ensure all the air is out overnight. The new calipers are in good shape. the old ones had a lot, and I mean a lot, of crud around the exposed part of the piston. Given the pads were down to 1mm when I got the bike, the exposed area was sizeable. I do not own a compressor so getting the pistons out to clean them was going to be a challenge. I thought I would just run them up to my local workshop and borrow their air line if I got really stuck. but. believe it or not I managed to get them out with my Ryobi tyre inflator! Cant quite believe it had enough power, but it did. I had to wrap kitchen roll around the valve that comes with it for kids paddling pools, inserted it inot the fluid hole and after a little effort I got all 4 pistons out of each calliper. A good clean up with autosol and 7 of the 8 are fine. One has had some treatment with 1500 grit and more autosol and is OK. If I were keeping them I might be tempted to replace it but its perfectly serviceable. So, new skill learnt today. Here are the calipers that came off after a clean up:
Things are getting serious now. Parcel man arrived at 4:30. Ebay Triumph QS and gear linkages etc for £135. Hopefully plug and play. I fitted it all in about 50 mins and will test it and the brakes tomorrow if the weather is OK. Needs the QS with the current gearing Before: After:
Oooch. This bike is turning into a bit of a weapon now. With the gearing, new QA throttle and QS its full on rapid. It is showing up the standard steering damper but unless one comes along at the right price I will see what difference the forks make. The only other thing then would be a slipper clutch and, of course, cosmetics. I’m a happy camper right now.
