Ran outta fuel on mine (regularly empty it) at 380miles. Popped in a 2.5litre & rode 2-miles too fill up; 33.85L. It's a keeper although I might look to get some of those cast-aluminium wheels from the new model.
I am sure they are and reflecting on the survey results.... thinking... can we persuade Ducati to keep selling the 1260 S and PP... until they get a 22 model V4 Multi with SSSA and 17" rubber and better panelling and all one colour engine.... to stop people fleeing the brand.....
Even if they wanted to I'm not sure Ducati are able to sell the 1260 as new bikes anymore due to Euro 5 regulations. I could of course be completely wrong
I rang the dealer this morning about a price on a 1260 PP and all they said was they wont be made anymore as the V4 replaces it and would I like one ? (As this is a family forum I cant repeat what I said) But I wasn't the only person to 'express disappointment' I was informed.
Test ride booked on sx1000 just in case There’s no PP replacement in the next 12 months. Well done Ducati, top job ! ( I think Boris has some redundant advisors available if you want to weaken your team even more )
Lots of hate being expressed here with precisely no one having ridden the new bike! I reckon it will handle at least as good if not better than the existing bike and anyone who thinks the V4 is a one trick off road pony is way off the mark imho. The looks are different yes and after my initial shock reaction the looks are growing on me by the day. ive had a deposit down for some time and you know what, I’m sticking with it. V4S with the full pack. Reckon it’s gonna be a great bike!
Problem is the UK market is a very small part of Ducatis worldwide sales. Italy is still Ducatis biggest market so its safe to say UK buyers wants come quite low on the ducati designers lists. There is no doubt it will be a better bike than the current one. Enjoy.
Everybody, has an opinion on the bike. There is no right or wrong. Looks is a very personal thing and for some (many it seems, including me) a very important aspect. I want to like the bike I am riding. If it grows on you, good for you. Enjoy the bike when it comes out. But it doesn't work that way for everybody. It is growing on me two. In a bad way. I dislike the looks even more as time goes by. And this can be very important when I am going to look for a new bike. It will not include the V4. REGARDLESS of it being a better bike or not. The motor may be great but so was the V2. And in its latest version a very refined one. Will the V4 match it for power? absolutely. But will it match it on torque? The charts say no. And if the gearing will mask this, it will definitely need a change in driving habits. You will need to work the gears more with the V4. I don't find this as convenient as it was with the V2. The only thing that reminds me that I am in the wrong gear on my Multi is the slapping of the chain. Otherwise you can open the throttle in 5th and with 2000rpm and let it do its thing. I also cannot understand how a 19" front wheel and a heavier bike with a 170 rear wheel size can feel sharper and quicker than my Multi. And I don't understand how you take a behemoth costing over 20K to dirt roads. If you feel confident doing that, please do, by all means. And enjoy it as much as you can. But not everybody does that. There is no option for those that don't and that's what's at stake here. Hopefully it will surprise me when I get a chance to do a test drive. But probability says otherwise. It may be a wonderful machine but I think the wow factor will affect only those that haven't ridden a Multi before.
I have to respectfully disagree. Even if we discount the lack of SSSA, Forged Wheels and the Aesthetics, the 19" front wheel is a major impediment for tyre choices. Moreover, a twin is much better for off-road than a four banger. The Multistrada V4 is also much heavier than its predecessor: 529 lbs for the V4S Sport 504 lbs for the 1260 Pikes Peak 536 lbs for the V4S 518 lbs for the 1260 S I texted my pal who's the Ducati specialist at my dealer asking him: "how many regular Multistrada's has he preped vs Enduro's over a year or so"? Just received a reply: He PDI's 5 regular Multistrada's for every 1 Enduro on average. Consequently, Ducati is alienating many Mutlistrada street only riders.
How will it handle better, with a bigger front wheel and skinnier tyres? You won’t be able to get decent sticky sports tyres for the V4, as they don’t make them in those sizes. Maybe they might later on, but at the moment, the sticky stuff isn’t available for 19” wheels. Or are you talking about off-road handling?
My tyres of choice at the moment are the latest Dunlop Roadsmarts and the Pirelli Angel GT 2, the Pirelli's which I put on my 1260S, both in my opinion really good tyres and available in the tyre sizes that will fit the new V4 Multi!!
A 19 inch front wheel? Really? That leaves out all the sticky rubber of my preference. The Pikes Peak Model should only have 17 inch wheel, never a 19 inch rim. What were Ducati smoking? This is pretty much a show stopper for me and now the current Desmo with also the single sided swingarm looks soooo much better. Cheers, Jaap.
