Slow Fuel Flow From Tank

  1. Decided to bring my wife’s 95 M6 back to life after a number of years sitting doing nothing.
Loads of rusty crud in the fuel tank which seems to be clear now following loads of chemical thrown in there, problem is that I cannot see the fuel outlet even with an endoscope.
Looking through into the outlet from the outside the fitting looks like it is a blind hole, obviously there must be some kind of side entry for the fuel to exit. Thing is the flow from the outlet seems to run really slow even with the fuel cap open.
Wondering if might be a good call to drill through this blind alley with a small drill to increase the día of the flow path.
    Anyone come across this?

  2. Could it be simply blocking with tank crud
Try strimmer cord or similar before using a drill?

  3. Probably is still a bit cruddy. I shall continue to use the chemical warfare approach for a time. I do wonder why the end of the fitting inside the tank is blind. Really dont want to drill it unnecessarily if I can help it.

  4. Just seen this, if tank already has confirmed signs of medium to heavy pockets of rust evident then you haven't much to loose by carefully drilling, have done it many times on car and motorbike. As said, obviously worth trying "gentler" alternatives first. The breather pipe can be even more prone to this as bore is so small.

  5. Just found the problem. Do you ever wonder might might happen to the Datatag transponder if it ever comes unglued from the inside of the tank.
It wedged itself right in the bottom corner in front of the fuel outlet nipple. The corrosion had effectively glued it in place giving the appearance of a blind hole. Fuel really pours out now. (I also now have a very clean rust free tank)
