I can Google a dozen articles from the past few years about British/worldwide viewing figures dropping to their lowest ever levels if you like, but my point was that F1 has turned into an absolute snoozefest
Sorry that wasn't immediately obvious from your previous post. You think its not worth watching -fair enough.
Totally agree with this. I used to follow F1 quite avidly. I don’t bother watching it at all now. Even if I happen to be home on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I’d prefer to take the dog a walk or clean the car. I’m the same with Top Gear
Me too. I lost touch with it a few years ago, IIRC it was the year before they introduced those guard rails around the cockpit. I’m not sure why it was that year in particular as it had turned into a procession with results decided on pit stop strategy rather than on-track overtakes many years ago. I only ever watched the first episode of Top Gear sans Clarkson and co and found it to be a bit of a mess with them trying too hard to create chemistry and banter which clearly wasn’t there. That, and Chris Evans thinking that shouting was a replacement for charisma and wit put me off watching any more and I’ve not watched one since
Chris Evans, another weapons grade tool. I think Mat LeBlanc (who I actually quite liked) said he can’t continue with Evans. And yes, BBC got it spectacularly wrong by trying to tick all the boxes. I used to really enjoy Chris Harris’s reviews on YouTube. He should get back to that....
Evans departed years ago, LeBlanc is gone too. As awful as the prospect of the current lineup was when announced, I’ve got to say it’s a better show now than it has been for years - including the last several years of the Clarkson era. 3 blokes who seem to genuinely get along with each other doing daft shite, plus some good car stuff as you’d expect from Harris, does the trick
I actually like the current line up. Back to the subject at hand: Lewis Hamilton is still a bell end.
Totally agree, I have never understood why Chris Evans like a few others I could name. Pant and Twat, Graham Norton, Paddy Mcguiness. Attract so much attention from TV and radio producers. Talentless boring and annoying.
As I've said before - All Hamilton has to do is win one MotoGP title and he'll be as good as John Surtees was...
That makes zero sense-so Rossi’s not in Surtees’ class because he’s never won a Car GP? If you don’t like Hamilton, that’s up to you, but you can’t belittle his achievements by quoting random non-related “facts” like that!
Yes, I absolutely agree. My comment wasn't entirely serious - apologies if it wasn't immediately evident that I was making fun... BUT exactly the same criteria apply to claiming Hamilton is the best racing driver ever. Statistically the most successful, yes. The best of all time, no, as there is no fair comparison.
I can't see him having the minerals for it. He didn't even want to race in Germany a few years back because he had a cold and was going to pull out.. He isn't that bad on a bike though in all fairness. He's had some very good coaching from the get go from the likes of Crafer, Lowes etc etc. All that stuff about him only being (whatever it was) off of Rossi's time is bull shit though. I know a guy from Bridgestone that was at the event and had a stop watch on him. Rossi was over 5 seconds (I can't remember the exact) seconds off of his usual pace and even then Shamilton was miles off (publicity stunt). But I digress. He can ride, but he would get his bum bum slapped in GP. Rossi is actually decent in a car though. Especially rally. I would love to see someone be able to transfer from one to the other again. He would have needed to do it years back though.
No need to apologise, I got your meaning really. I just find it odd that people find a way to belittle what he’s done, which is 7 world titles over 14 years in two cars with more podiums, Q1s , points & race wins than anyone else in history. For too many people, that’s more because he has an opinion on BLM, an “unconventional” fashion sense & didn’t smile once when someone’s granny asked for a selfie, rather than what he does on race day. We like who we like, not for me to tell you or anyone otherwise, but I do feel the need to make the point that Lewis Hamilton is an exceptional driver as he proved again on Sunday & not some lucky guy that’s clearly just winning because he’s in the best car.
A true champion on the track, demonstrated by a truly awesome masterclass at the weekend. But a right plonker off it. Keep politics out of sport.
Ha ha, yep I’m not sure I could carry that look off but c’mon don’t we always bemoan the lack of characters in competitive sport nowadays? God forbid we have a grid full of cry babies like Rosberg & Vettel or worse , dullards like Ocon & Magnussen.
Yep, agreed, we love characters in sport. But when I select the channel to watch sport, I do so to be entertained not preached at. It’s a right turn off; there’s enough sh!t in the news which is almost inescapable. Sport should be a refuge for entertainment.
I never belittle his achievements - seven world titles speak for themselves. I agree that it has become fashionable to not like him for some people (and that it appears to be a particularly British trait to dislike our sporting heroes) but my dislike of him far predates any of his recent "woke" political pronouncements...
I know what you mean, but I guess Lewis (and others) feels that he shouldn't be muzzled in his opinions anymore than you should be in yours. LOL.
