V4 2018/2019 V4 Vs 2020 V4

  1. I know they’ve only just launched the 2020 model and it has the usual claims of easier to ride etc.
I know they’ve changed the frame slightly, software update for the electronics (which I’m not sure can be applied to the Mk1s?)
Be interested to hear other people’s thoughts on the newer version when they’ve gotten a chance to ride them.

  2. The Evo2 software can be applied to the Mk1’s. I’ve got it on mine. It cost me ~£400 though. But I’m talking about the slick/track biased software.

  3. Reading between the lines.... I think your only going to notice any handling improvements on track and cracking on at a fair pace... But what I will say is they seemed to have taken some power out the bottom torque curve to make it more linear like. So basically they have tamed it down a little to make it easier to ride. Apparently it feels quite flat at the bottom compared early gens. I’ve always said Brutale power doesn’t make for good lap times! But it certainly puts a bigger grin on your face:D:D:D

  4. I'd be interested to have a go on one, not that I'd upgrade from a 2018 though to be fair, I don't think it seems like a huge improvement.
Sadly not taken the V4 on track yet but that is going to be changing this year, just be interested to hear what others think as they start to have a go on them, I'm also interested to see how it stacks up against the S1000RR and the new Fireblade, I don't think any of the new bikes are going to be game changers though, they're all very very good.

  5. Yours is a track bike only IIRC? do you know if there's an update for the road bikes?, don't know if I'd bother upgrading to be honest as I've found the electronics on it very good, however it's in for its service in March and will most likely need some warranty work too, so might get it upgraded.

  6. Yes, mines track only. And a proper weapon, I must say.
Like DD says, it’s like they’ve smoothed out the bottom end savagery. 44 teeth vid did comment on that. A good review.

  7. Where did you get it ? That sounds like a good price

  8. I’ve got a 2020 v4 I don’t see any lack of low down oomph... the frame has two big holes in it same as the R
The rear suspension link is the same as the R
Sublime bit of kit to ride...

  9. I'd be interested if the evo2 software I have can be upgraded to the latest version on the 2020+ bikes where you have RACE MAP A and RACE MAP B ??

I'm wondering if that is only relative to the 2020 bikes with the extended swinger/position and rear shock length change ??

  10. Where did you get the race map A and race map B from?

  11. You see it on the 2020 bikes dash ..
The SP has it as well as the R

  12. You mean
    race evo
    Sport evo
    Wet evo

  13. Hmm.. it maybe that I saw it on the v4 superlegara and thought the new 2020/21 models had the same dashboard with the evo upgrade ..

    My mistake..

  14. If it’s a track only bike. Get a custom map done by a someone reputable on Ducati’s.

I’d imagine someone like wilf would be able to help, I’d imagine like most other brands that the t/c tables can be customised and refined greatly

  15. In fact it mentions it here

    https://www.ducati.com/ww/en/bikes/panigale/panigale-v4

The Riding Mode strategy is also new; specifically, the Race Riding Mode has been split into two mappings that can now be freely compared in the individual parameters, allowing the rider to quickly compare two different configurations to define the best set-up based on the track and riding style.

So must be on the 2021 versions...

  16. EVO 3 now too..... more money.....

  17. I dont think you are comparing race maps as in out and out engine performance, its more the opportunity to instantly compare DTC ABS Engine braking level etc ... say between full and none or 5 and 3...and or a different mix..

  18. Yep it may well be that , you may be able to switch easily between say map A and map B while riding

Will it be called evo3 ?? will it be backward compatible ?? Will it be a foc update ??

  19. Evo 2 was my upgrade... and was 400 quid or so.. Dont see why they wouldn't sell it.... if i am honest its getting a bit too complicated...and probably unnecessary as gucci as it is..

  20. Completely unnecessary as a road bike! For more advanced track riders possible makes more sense. But only when you have exceeded the parameters of the OE system..... basically it’s more refinement and adjustability making it easy and more manageable on track. Reaching them limits for an average rider really isn’t go to make a massive impact on lap times. It’s just going to manage it with less aggression giving the rider an easier time:cool:
