Bump Stop For Rear Shock

Discussion in 'Monster' started by MiguelL, Nov 24, 2020.

  1. Continuing getting my wife’s 600 Monster back in running condition. I prodded the bump stop on the Sachs Boge rear shock and it suddenly disintegrated.
Probably not uncommon on these older Monsters (1995). Does anybody know of a suitable replacement? I dont really want to buy a new shock, at least not at this moment in time.

  2. Type “Bump stop YSS” into eBay. (Many other sources and suppliers are available). Split it with a sharp knife and superglue it back together when installed.

  3. Thanks a lot. Ive seen a lot on eBay but they seem just the kiddies. I’ll measure up in the morning and get one ordered

  4. If you do the superglueing thing, use Loctite 480 as it's rubber reinforced. Used it a lot to bond rubber to steel & rubber to rubber in machinery.
    Oh, and it's oil-proof too...

  5. If I can I want to try and dismantle the spring, I have some spring compressors. My bump stop thingy looks like its made of encapsulated high density foam, (its now a pile of dust) From my years in industry I have tried to superglue foam and found it melted the stuff. However, Jon’s suggestion of splitting and gluing is very tempting
