It's been a while but I finally got this delivered today. Big shout out to @Dirty Leeds thanks Carl for a great pick up and delivery service. Also thanks @dukesox for an easy stress free transaction (I've nicked a few of your pics from the ad, it was a bit too dark for me to take any). I had a 600about 20 years ago, that got traded in for a 748 but I always sort of missed having the little monster. The ad came up and I kept going back for a look. Eventually I thought 'well why not' and here it is. Plan is to use it for a bit as is, so I'll know if I've broken anything with my tinkering Then it will be just a good deep clean and tidy up, chuck a few blingy bits at it, keep it well maintained and RIDE IT
Nice enjoy....just wish I’d felt a bit better and got it you earlier as it was a nice day...stay safe and enjoy. Oh and the small issue of a boat been cancelled from Spain didn’t help us...oh well all good now...anyway was good to meet you and see @dukesox again...hopefully I’ll be healthier next time
Just been out for a quick blast. I had forgotten how much fun these little monsters can be. I only came back 'cos I had to...the cold was getting through to my fingers. Yes, the 999 is great, but going out on that is a bit of an 'event' and not very suitable for nipping to the shops for 'essential supplies'. Think I will need a lot of them this month
Nice one mate...I’m yet to leave my bed and am quite envious ....I’m off Spain on the 18th thinking of chucking a bike in to take down sounds like you would benefit from a trip out to warmer climbs with the monster
It's exactly the same bike as I have, my first ever Ducati (Why???), I love it apart from the restricted steering lock, great character and sound, with Delcevic exhaust on. Enjoy.
One of the first jobs I wanted to tackle was to replace the scuffed left hand silencer. I managed to pick this one up from the 'bay for a decent price. It was removed from a brand new bike so is virtually new. Also a did bit of touch up on the exhaust hanger bracket where the paint was peeling off. Someone with eagle eyes may spot the presence of spacers on the hanger mounting points. I guess the bike has been dropped at some point and the bracket has been bent inwards. I have ordered a new one, as I intend to fit some high level Mivv slip ons and I expect it will need the correct gap behind the hanger.
Another thing I wanted to get done...the headlamp fairing was finished in a matt black. Took it off and nipped around the corner to the local car spray shop. Got it back today and fitted. Very pleased with the results, now it matches the rest of the paintwork....
Parcel delivery today Had to wait a while for them but was worth it. Quality is very good and everything fitted OK with no issues. My only moan would be the aluminium brackets which support the cans, they could have been finished off a bit better. There were sharp edges and scuff marks from the machining. I will probably finish up removing them and having them coated black to match the footpeg hangers.
Got the new rear tyre fitted today. New bearings in the rear wheel, a bit more cleanage and wheel back in. I also managed to pick up a couple of chain adjusters off ebay. They were a bargain when compared to the price of new ones. And they're like new. Think I'm going to need to slow down a bit, I'll be running out of things to do before the real winter comes. Here's a few more pics.....
I think that the 695 was always a bit overlooked as they're pretty pokey for the 'little' Monster, they aren't that common but they're the highest output per CC of any previous 2V or something like that. Looks nice though it took me a minute to notice the side panels, something else for the list?
I thought someone would notice those I had a go with some cf vinyl wrap on one of them. Not too impressed with it. I have ordered a pair of carbon fibre ones.
