Ducati Glasgow must have had a strange and really bad year if their finances are in a mess. Look up R3 Red Ltd on companies House website.
Got me thinking , silly question , If your bike is at a Dealership , say in the workshop and the receivers are called in. Let’s say work has been performed on he bike that needs paying for , do the receivers have any chance of getting the bike ? Like a said , silly question but we live in by silly times just now
No, I don’t think so. Receivers will only seize stock. But if your bikes in the showroom on a sale or return basis, you might be on a sticky wicket.
And that’s the point, the big groups just get bigger, more buying power, added discounts and the smaller guys can’t compete.
But 6-7 years ago Ducati Manchester were a one dealership business. What was stopping the others doing the same and expanding? As the old saying goes “you have to speculate to accumulate”
Nothing, it’s just a great shame we’re losing the small Independent. The groups will end up not selling the brand but how many units they can sell, that’s my experience.
a local garage went under a while back owing money to the vat man. they turned up, put a lock on the door and a notice on the window giving details as to where and when to provide evidence of ownership of any vehicles left in the workshop if they wanted their cars back. maybe not the same thing but they are pretty ruthless when it comes to claiming back the cash.
Shame Ducati themselves don't help out under these circumstances, but doesn't look like they treat their riders all that great so would they treat the dealer network any better!
The huge investment required i would think. Ducati Mcr had Russian funding behind it didn't it? The problem for Ducati UK is if one of those multiple dealerships were to go under, it would leave a massive hole in the UK set up. I am surprised they let them do it to be honest but I suspect there are few takers for starting up new dealerships from scratch.
As I understand it they bought themselves out of that within 2 years of opening. Or certainly it was before their expansion programme began. So the expansion strategy and investment has been self funded.
There were humours hints and rumours about which particular arm of the Russians mafia the cash came from....
If a bike is sent to a dealership to be put on display for the dealership to help sell (sale or return) , the bike still belongs to the seller. Surely if the receivers are called in for the dealership they have no legal right to take the bike ? I really need clarification on this as a Ducati dealership has offered to help sell my Bayliss on a sale or return agreement
