1200 R Carbon Parts Finish Opinions

Discussion in 'Monster' started by MarketSquareHero, Nov 26, 2020.

  1. The 1200R are bought recently already has a few carbon parts fitted.
These are exhaust guard, ignition surround, rear hugger, chainguard and heal plates. All these are in gloss.
I'm contemplating getting the cambelt covers and the two pieces under the frame and I'm in two minds if a matt finish would look out of place mixed with the already fitted gloss.
Was going to order the gloss but on second thoughts it might be a bit to much all in gloss.
Any experienced carbon lovers out there with any thoughts on this subject.
    Thanks

  2. buy all my matt carbon bits!!!!

  5. Thanks Akorenika.
Just wondering about mixing the already fitted gloss parts with matt.

  6. Gloss old school, Matt or satin more modern.

  7. Gloss or Satin is personal.

  8. Mat best. At least the bikes the right colour!!!

  9. The timing belt covers are a pain in the a**e to fit.
    Got to be satin finish

  10. You can mix satin with gloss.
Zoom-in on the SC-Project exhaust in #7 above where you will see the main portion of the silencer in satin and the end cap in gloss.

  12. Held fire on this for the moment.Couldn't make my mind up.
Money was burning a hole in my pocket so used it plus some on parts from that wonderful company CNC Racing.
Keep away from their website if you want to remain solvent.

  13. Yes, that crazy CF bling stuff can be expensive.
However, you can't go cheap. Lots of junk out there. Make sure of the quality you're contemplating.

  14. The carbon pieces already fitted to the monster are Ilmberger so when I go ahead, this is what I'll get.
Normally use Fullsix which is also excellent.
Agree about cheap carbon, not a good look.

  15. you soooo need to polish those headers!

  17. I totally agree. It's on my todo list.
I've been following some of your posts on the topic.
    Cleaning Exhaust
I don't want to use the acid cleaner method.
Either I polish them but I'm also considering getting them ceramic coated black along with the cat-box on the Multistrada.
