899 R&g Lock Stops

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Dannym81, Dec 1, 2020.

  1. Hi All

    Need a little advise please

Dropped the bike and snapped the left side lock stop. I’ve been looking around and there seems to be the R&G stops aswell as the Reactive fork clamps lock stops.

Now I’m lead to believe these lock stops will reduce the turning circle which at this moment in time I’m not to fussed as a lower tripe clamp is pretty expensive.

Are the R&G lock stop protectors a alternative replacement to the lock stop I’ve snapped off or just there to protect the standard lock stops??
If it’s a replacement has anyone installed a set?

    Thanks

  2. They’re designed to protect the standard ones. You can’t use the steering lock with them fitted (in my experience)

I’ve got a set (I think still) i never fitted you can have for a few £ and postage if you’re interested

  3. I have them on my 959 and can still use the steering lock - it’s a bit tight but it’s OK.

  4. I did the same. Fitted R&G lock stops on my 1299S.
Can still use the steering lock.
Have them on my Speciale too, however can’t use the steering lock.

  5. Yeh if there R&G and I guess the correct ones for the 899... not sure if there’s much difference really.

  6. So let’s be clear I can use this R&G stops as a replacement for for the snapped stop??

  7. I’ll check and come back to you

  8. not on the 1199, mine is missing both off of the lower triple, it secures on the horn mount screw and replaces the missing hard lockstops ( smaller turning radius though)

  9. From your link, the last picture looks like it shows the OE adjuster screws which is what I thought the OP had broken off. Every day is a school day. Andy

  10. all good Andy,
I sits inside the range of the lock stops so it also protects the lock stops that are still on the lower triple..
i actually use both, the Spider one and the R&G rubber ones to limit the impact on the headstock/frame if i used them in anger..

  12. these look good. It looks like you may be able to vary the amount of lock you get so they don’t reduce the lock to lock distance and so increase the turning circle. as a opposed to the Spider and R&G items which increase the turning circle which isn’t a. Good thing for Road use

  13. I’ve got the R&G as a replacement for the original on my 1299. They do the trick, it’s a track bike so the limited steering angle isn’t a problem. I did however, ride the bike down my street the other day to test something out and a U-turn in the road is pretty much impossible.

  14. To be fair, I cant remember the last time I did a U turn. :) I paddle back and forward these days

  15. Well yeah it may have been down to my incompetence. I think most likely a mixture of the 2.

  16. I nearly dropped my bike after fitting these, really surprised me how much is reduced the steering angle - they're more a track item.
