Another cold damp morning ride... Garmin stats It actually warmed up to 6 degrees, it was only 3.5 degrees when we set out, I was shaking like a shitting dog till we’d done a few miles and got warmed up !!
Chobham about 16 miles, followed a hunch and missed the rain apart from last 10 minutes. Quite eerie to see only four or five cars on the motorway as I cycled over, industry certainly grinding to a halt it seems.
Thank you DS, I was telling Viv, I felt very guilty from two days ago having hoovered up all the reduced price Danish pastries at the local mini market and then eating the lot the same evening, hopefully this will balance things a little.
I’m puzzled, are you guilty for buying them all thereby depriving other folk of a bargain or for eating the lot in an evening?
Both! I left about half what I had, and it was near the end of the evening and it often goes in the dustbin, the whole lot. I just cannot resist an apple turnover or similar, on top of this there was cinnamon, pecan, raisin whirls, cheese straws, it’s making me hungry again just talking about it.
Fresh this morning, but a nice steady paced social ride with a takeaway coffee stop . The whole route rideable, for a change . Not a single roadie seen today, happy days .
Oh dear, you bought them at half price but only ate half you do realise you paid full price in the end?
err.. no, ate the lot, plenty more in the shop - it's the shop that throws them away - and they were quarter price.
Been looking for a full suspension bike for a while but prices are crazy at the moment so hit the buy it now on this last night. Picked it up today and it’s hardly been used so think it was a good buy at a grand. Currently got the 27.5 plus tyres on which I’m looking forward to trying. Doubt I’ll be able to keep up with junior at Hamsterley though.

That seems a very low price for a Colnago of that vintage with such exotic components. Luckily for me it’s too big. He was brave riding on Delta’s
