  2. Zhed, which part of the World are you based?

  3. I can highly recommend Stan Watt at Rotor Adventures, https://rotoradventures.com/ he runs pretty much every type of off road tasters/training etc from his base just outside of Dorchester in Hampshire. My daughter has been doing mx training days for under 16’s and has really come on. He has a good range of ACU instructors and a range of bikes and kit to rent. Stan is a Paris Dakar finisher so has a great pedigree for two wheeled antics.

  4. ok 3500. last chance.
i can imagin you are spoiled for choice down your way. greenlaning ect is quite popular the south and wales.

  5. Herts/Beds/Bucks/Essex are all close to me

  6. Its probably £100 shipping.

  7. Ok....I'm pretty much set on getting a 2 stroke.

I've found a Husqvarna WR125 and a Gas Gas EC250 (both road legal) close to my budget.

Is it better to get a 125 and ease myself into it or futureproof by getting a 250 (2T) now?

How much heavier and/or more of a handful is a 250 smoker than a 125?

  9. Hang on - you do trackdays with what, 100 or so hp, and you're talking about getting a 125? Where's that facepalm? Only joking of course, but where's the fun in that!

The best laughs, spills and adventures I've ever had on 2 wheels were on my (heavy, wouldn't start once dropped) XR400 when in my 40's roaming around the Wiltshire RUPPs, etc with a mate & an OS map! It's like a free trackday, it's a full-body workout, you fall off into mud not tarmac and, with a good mate (or offspring) you can have the best laugh going and still ride to the pub!

Get the 250 and get out there!:punch::D:D:upyeah: Just make sure it starts easily after it's been on its side, hot & you're knackered!

  12. If your concerned about such stuff, don't forget the bike has to be road legal to go green lanning.
I wouldn't start off with a 125 smoker as I think you have to be a good rider to get the best out of one. You've got to keep it screaming to get the best out of it. And I'd forgotten about about dropping bangers and then finding it almost impossible to kickstart the poxy thing afterwards.
p.s. don't try bump starting a banger on dirt :sob:

  13. You're not wrong Keith, I got into green laning on a Honda Dominator 650 along with my lad two heavy great big turds ....... the bikes, but boy what fun to start out on it taught me from the get go how to handle different off-road conditions.

  14. I would think it taught you a hundred different ways how to pick a dirt (heavy turd) bike up PB :joy:

  15. Ha ha , the big plus being on an small Island we got to know all the trails legal and non legal pretty quick, made each outing and bit quicker and more daring. I remember seeing the boy being launched over his handlebars on the Dommie from the edge of a crop field and for him to appear about 5 metres or so standing up in the tall crops (maize i think). Fvcking priceless i couldn't stop laughing, i was glad though he didn't hurt himself just winded.

  16. That’s exactly why I want to buy a road legal bike. I hear what you say about 2 strokes but tbh I detest the sound of 4 stroke single cylinder engines. Also, as the bike will probably get passed to my son, I want him to experience a 2 stroke as he is a bit of an old soul who reminisces about the sounds and smells of his childhood when we’d go to watch bike racing and some of the support events would feature smokers (he was born in 2002, and IIRC, I didn’t take him to the last 500GP as he was too young, but he remembers the 125 and 250 classes at the MotoGP and other races)

  17. 250!

  20. The 125 was sold about an hour ago so it looks like it might need to be the Gas Gas 250. Or wait for another to come up. I'm going to have think overnight and possibly arrange to see it tomorrow or Monday
