998 Yellow 998 Mono

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Dave, Dec 5, 2020.

  1. There is something at the back of my mind that quite some time ago, there was a discussion on here about whether Ducati used 998 biposta rear subframes on monopstas. The 998 biposta rear subframe wasn’t an issue for wiring like the 916/748/early 996 were. Don’t remember the outcome though. Andy

  2. I have an '02 748s bought new as a mono and it has a bip subframe. To the best of my knowledge, (and making a guess as the ECU is where it should be in the bip subframe), the wiring is as a bip..

  3. 998 ecu is on the side of the bike. Only rear light wires are on the 998 subframe.

  5. Standard or an S model?

  6. Only 7 yellow 998s Mono's were imported into the UK.

  7. Either ... but preferably a standard rather than an S

  8. I've just had a few mouthfuls of Stella Artois...is that ok with you.:):upyeah:

  9. Lol...

  10. I do, I have one. I bought the sad looking "street fighter" styled 998S that was for sale for too long. The man I sold my original 998 to would not return the compliment and sell it back to me so I bought this as a lockdown project in the hope of returning it to its prettier self. As with so many specials, It came with lots of extras bolted on and some exquistly made but sadly the sum of the parts does not get close to the original design. one off aluminium air intakes anyone?
It is still a work in progress but a joy to work on compared with newer machines.

  11. I remember seeing that up for sale with them for ages. Are you planning on returning it to how it should be? Yellow 998S with carbon belly pan and a few other bits look cool.

Not an S but the close enough...

  12. Yes, I have a full Speed Carbon fairing to go on and have most of the other parts to return it to something Tamburini would have been more proud of, I am stuck a little on the colour conumdrum since it is a bit of a plank canvas but that is a very fine looking steed you posted above.

  13. Low production numbers does not always means it is going to be collectable.

    Henk!!!

  14. Yes and no as only 7 were imported so that surely changes the mindset for collection purposes.

  15. It’s only more worth imho because the alu subframe and Monoposto is more worth than the Biposto set. To be a collectible it must be special and different besides rare. The Strada wouldn’t be a collectible if it wasn’t made for just one year being more different from the Biposto then from the SP.

    Nonetheless it’s a nice 998!

  16. But you might not need a mask!

  17. Well if that's the case you can do a XH558 ..RIP for me then.;)

  18. Very nice in yellow and for sure you don’t see many these days. Here’s my 998s Final Edition to compare just in case you decide to paint it RED. 4215CAC2-573E-44BC-9482-8B77E2DB3E3F.jpeg
